Yeah, definately annoying.

I'm checking timing right now with the light, racing the engine for 2 minutes above 2000rpm, then racing it a few times, then checking timing, all after the engine has warmed up. I'm using the diagnostic loop BTW

Now, I shine the light on the mark and the mark does not stay still, is it supposed to? It moves back and forth, before I started timing the mark I was looking for (marked it in white at 15 degrees BTDC) was moving back and forth about 2.5 inches with the furthest rightmost it would move would be about 1.5in. from the little pointer. After adjusting, it still fluctuates back and forth, but the rightmost point it hits is right on that pointer.

Is this how it's done? I don't know why the idle is doing this, moving back and forth I mean, but after a quick drive it didn't seem to change anything, the timing was just where I set it. The car is a bit loud also, could an exhaust leak cause the idle to do this?

Here's a vid if anyone is interested, you can view it with the latest quicktime player:

Oh, to clarify the vid, the little white mark you see moving back and forth is the mark I put at 15 degrees BTDC.

I was holding my cell phone to record it and the timing light simultaneously so it moves around a little, but you can see how bad the mark fluctuates and even hear my idle a little bit. Sorry for the quality, it is just a camera phone after all.

Thanks for the help guys, turns out a combo between boost leaks and timing, once timing was setup, I made a boost tester and at first it wouldn't even pressurize at all!! Eventually after replacing/adjusting just about every clamp and coupling in there, I could pressurize to 10psi, which is where I am currently boosting to.

Now, off boost, the car runs like any normal car, it has power and everything. Once you hit about 3300rpm the turbo makes you take off. It's really nice. I can't wait for larger injectors to turn up the boost.

Are there cheap injectors that can support 300whp? Like S15 injectors or something drop in? So I can raise the boost to max out the turbo for now, and later when I switch turbos I will go with large injectors.

And...I made a mistake with my Greddy BOV and stripped the adjustment screw hole, now nothing will fit in there and screw in, does Greddy sell replacement BOV cap, or will I have to get it tapped? It's just annoying to have the BOV sound EVERY TIME I let off the throttle.
