Check it out, some local guy bought a brand new STI and had it detailed at the dealer...and this is how he got it back.

Oh hell no!

I would saw that front air vent and flipped shizz. "Time is money and they can't afford my hourly rate." When they obviously can't accomplish the service they are offering then 1. Don't touch your customers car. 2. Do it right.

This is disappoint.

*edit after reading they shouldn't touch any car.

Looks more like the dollup crew is stupid because salesmen rarely dollup the cars they sell. Did he buy it during a sale?

Someone should get fired for that. Dealerships charge PREMIUM prices and offer sub-par work, and atrocious customer service.

Dealerships seem like something we can automate. We really don't need people there. It should be like a vending machine. You walk up, punch in what car you want to test drive, the machine scans your driver's license and/or insurance card, takes a pic of you, forks over the keys and tells you what you can and can not do. Bring it back, check off what options you want, and pay the price the manufacturer has in there. Price can also be adjusted via an algorithm that takes into account how long the vehicle has been sitting on the lot.

Bottom line, there's too many douchebags, too much money, and not enough positives.

yeah, thats pretty awful. i work for a dealership doing pretty much exactly this stuff. and its common to miss a spot of wax or 2, but not like that. thats terrible. they were probably using old, worn out micro fiber cloths or if they used a buffer probably had old pads.
thats no excuse tho.

especially not for a dealer. How was it a 2012 and in 'extremely bad condition' already? (I skimmed, maybe I missed, not going back to reread :gapteeth)

Regardless I would b**** about it hardcore

You should repost it, and replace "effed" with "finger-banged this poor customer"
or "made greasy small wienered love to the tailpipe of this car"

Good point, I guess Canada doesn't have the BBB.

OP, hopefully you didn't pay much for that detail job. I am pretty sure a couple of grade school kids could do better.

I hate to be blunt, but what fool accepts delivery of a brand new car looking like that?? The buyer could have simply refused to take the car until the dealer fixed the obvious problem to his satisfaction. That doesn't excuse the dealership from doing shoddy detailing. But once that car leaves the lot, the salesman gets his commission. In many cases, that means he no longer any real incentive to help you get the service department to fix it right.

Not saying that the victim wasn't a fool, but he says in his forum post that it was raining the day he took delivery and it wasn't until he saw the car dry that he could see the flaws.

this. its pretty hard to see any flaw on a new car in the rain. especially if it was dark out. what the salesman should have done was shown him the car while it was still in the shop.

I REALLLLLLY hope jalopnik catches wind of this, then its on like donkey kong. Im still in shock and awe that dealership treated that guy so poorly not to mention hired an incompetent detailer who obviously doesn't have a single clue of what to do, some people just need to stay away from a buffer.

BBB is useless for one-offs, or even when the service is generally bad, people rarely go to the BBB. It has to be pretty horrible for them to do that.

The dealership should be sentenced to obtain all their future cars through Jeremy Boddy.
