I've used Meguiar's gold for a long time with good results. I just tried Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax after using Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit both bought from Amazon.com. I'm happy with the results. Claying removed a lot of yellow and brown stuff (old wax, I think), surface feels much smoother, swirls and scratches didn't change as much as I was hoping. I used a scratch remover after claying and prior to waxing.

As far as ease of use the nxt Tech wax is very easy to remove. The label says you can apply wax to the whole car and then wipe off.

I ran it through a touchfree car wash to get rid of most of the crud, then handwashed and dried it. Then I put on two coats of Tech Wax. Nothing too complicated. Not bad for a car that was at the time more than 10 years old and had been in New England all its life. The Tech Wax really hides the scratches well.

Here's another pic of the reflection I got off the hood. It's a bit of a dark picture but you get the idea:

I noticed they offer it in both paste and spray-on form - Do both produce the same quality results?

Okay, I've pretty much decided to take the car to European Detail Specialists here in Phoenix to have the fine scratches removed by pros. They are the ones who prep cars for the Barrett-Jackson Auctions. I'll have them detail the entire car, including undercarriage, engine compartment, wheel openings, interior and exterior.

After it's put back in the condition it should be in, I'll wash and take care of it myself, and maybe have them re-do it once a year.

I have a friend that uses Mequiar's "Tech Wax" on two new cars, and they look great. He says it's easy to apply and remove, escept to put the spray on a cloth to apply, and not spray it directly on the car to keep from getting too much in the small noks and crannies.

My question about this is, does anyone know if Tech Wax removes previous wax? Not sure if it's a "cleaner" that supposedly "polishes" the finish too, or if it's just a "protectant" and shine producer. I don't want to pay all that money for European Detail Specialists to wax the car, then remove their work.

Comments?

It's just a wax. They sell a seperate paint cleaner and polish, which I am looking forward to using on my car this spring.

I personally use the liquid version of the Tech Wax. I put the stuff on a wax applicator (that's the best term I can think of for it, it's sort of like a sponge) then buff it off with a terrycloth towel.

Thanks, Matt.So it won't remove an earlier coat of wax? Will several coats build up on the finish (I hope)?

Yeah I generally apply two coats when I do a wax job on my car.

Zaino/5Star seem to pay off in the long run, especially if you have physical disabilities, because they only need to be reapplied every 2-4 years.

In that case, I'd pay a detailer and have him use the Zaino kit.

Which Zaino kit? And how much does it cost? Can other waxes be applied over it as a "refresh" in between complete applications? Mequiar's "Tech Wax", which I understand is extremely easy to apply and remove?

Thanks.

I used the Zaino kit on my G20 once a year and then applied a new coat of Tech Wax every month or so.

1st link only shows 2 items, no "kit"2nd link is dead.

I've been to Zaino's web site. They have a lot of products.I was asking specifically which "kit" MattB referred to.

Thanks.
