I used to get stopped all the time (young Latino in Huntington Beach, Ca, late at night with beater car). A lot of cops out here are racist (not most, but lots, there's been a few legal cases brought up, etc.).

I was once stopped, my "papers" thourghly checked, and then when it all checked out, I was told I was stopped because "my license plate light was too dim." If I wanted to really e a smart@55 I would asked him to cite the veh that states the correct wattage for lic plate lights.

Another time in Texas, the state troppers stopped me, told me to get out of the car, then , hand on holdster, asked if they could search the car and asked when was the last time I smoked marijuana.

But I haven't been harrased in a while, maybe because I drive mostly freeway and I'm a little older.

id say 15% of all cops are F.A.C.'s (Fvckin arsehole cops)most are not out to be a d!ck just doing their jobs, My little brother just got nailed for a 77 in a 45mph and the cop gave him the ticket and said "i could tow your car and take you to jail for wreckless op, but im here to do my job that doesnt mean dumping salt int he wound, try and slow donw." and that was from one of the smaller townships which are more of a pita.

Just don't be a prick and most the time you get a warning or can get them sidetracked on something else, hell i've been pulled over for speeding and all he wanted to do was ask about my Z32.

About the meets, I know how it is. At a local Thursday evening meet, I think we are about to get shut down. We are slowly getting the crazy people showing up. People doing burnouts in the parking lot, loud stereos, one person with a truck on hydraulics dragging his tailgate on the ground. That sort of stuff.

And it doesn't help that we are supported by a local Ultimate Electronics, which is going into bankruptcy and is liquidating the store.

My friend who has my old system just got a ticket the other for it being too loud. Ticket reads: LOUD RADIO Anywayz I got my system cranked as I pull into the parking lot and here comes a car going 50mph through the lot at me. I turn friend turns behind me and cop comes up behind him. e gets on his PA and starts saying ''If I can hear you your systen is too loud, blah, blah, blah,it's illegal and I can take you to jail'' I grabbed my PA and was in the middle of taking my breath to say somthing back when he turned around. The boxing matches started at the meet again and then the cop showed back up and wouldn't leave. Do cops enjoy ruining everyone's fun?
Loud stereos, thousands of people, cars driving recklessly through the parking lot, fighting, and god knows what else.

Wanna know why the police are pissed off? It's because it's their *** that gets chewed when little Johnny gets ran over by some kid in the parking lot. They are the ones that get called with all the pissed off residents, and they have to put up with it.

Just because you have the right to meet in a private parking lot doesn't mean you have the right to do whatever you want.

4 years of going to car meets has taught me this. One day you will wise up and notice this as well.

I understand what are of yall are saying and I agree with most of thoughts.I was just saying that he comes after me and my friend for music while their are kids on the other side of the lot burning out etc. and he does nothing.2 weeks ago nothing happen and it was peaceful and then a boxing match started.Should they break this up most likely yes. There was probably 10 matches in all and blood was never drawn. It was just friends playing around.*This would of happened wherever they would of been*But you are right in saying this is not the place for it to be happening. On the music note it isn't bothering anyone because there is no houses even close and it is industrial area. However the people on the other side of the parking lot burning out etc. are a problem. No matter where you go you will always have idiots showing up and trying to race, and drive wreckless. was just mad at the fact he said he was goign to impound my car, put me in jail, etc. while there were idiots driving wreckless on the other side of the parking lot.

Instead I challenge you to look a police officer straight in the face and say that. You won't though.
The only reason why I wouldnt is b/c they could take you to jail and all of that.. But I do see what he is saying.. And them being a Cop is the only way for them to Have control and all of that..

Most of the time, I see the "hassling" coming from the kids at the meets.

I've been at meets where a cop rolls through and kids start acting all bad and crap, talking smack, not getting out of the way, and being generally disrespectful.

IMO, that badge is the ONLY thing protecting these chumps - if that officer was a civilian, he'd bust someone's lip open.

It's good to meet up with one of the officers patrolling the area - let them know who you are, who you're affiliated with, how to get in contact with you, and that you'll cooperate in keeping the knuckleheads out.

I think some people forget that the guys in uniform are roughly our age, are probably car nuts themselves, and enjoy hanging out doing "guy stuff" just as much as we do. But they're on the job, and they gotta be straight-up during shift.

People who piss and moan about the PD mistreating them probably need some discipline in their life anyway.

Off-topic (kinda): I just finished swapping on a HICAS bar and some poly bushings and NISMO transmission mount in my vert this past weekend. So I sneak out for a bit to take it for a drive - great weather for driving, too. I roll over to this industrial park with a HUGE parking lot (like 5 football fields) and start busting some hard turns, kicking the tail out, and doing some rapid steering transitions... all the sudden I see a marked Crown Vic sitting in the corner of the lot, partially obscured by a tree. Knowing I'm busted, I just drive up to him real cool - As I pull up, he smiles and says, "Take it home."

"Yes sir, thanks."

Home I went.

It was just the way this cop acted. He didn't use his authority for the right purposes.Threatening to take me to jail for my radio while there was kids driving wreckless, just doesn't make since to me.But there is always some like this...probably 90% of the time though it ends up being a good thing in the long run because it will keep the public safer.I think he though I was my friend he has a black 240,I have a white one but it was dark.My friend was told to leave or he would be arrested. He drove to blockbuster because he had to take a piss and was going about 25mph(wait he said yet is probably more).Cop waited for him to come outside the store. So maybe the cop thought I was him then realised different person and went on his way.

The cop was just trying to ruffle your feathers and get you thinking with the jail comment.

It scares some people into acting normal. It's like parents telling kids they are going to get spanked.

My parents didn't threatened me they would do it. Turns out that cop was a rookie. Was there again last night 3 cops were there and they didn't care about music. As long as nothing bad was happening they were cool with it. They were only there for a while and checked out everyone's stuff because some theft has been going on.So they just checked a coupl people in a friendly way and then left and would come back every so often to make sure noone was acting up.One honda took off through the lot only got up to like 25 but had the typical honda exhaust cop went pulled him over told him to shut it off and be safe for the rest of the night. Very supportive of these cops.
