can't run a MAF Adaptor what now?

I put a nismo cold air intake for a spec v on my 1.8 and was told that i need to add the maf adaptor to correct my super lean and idle problem. the thing is their isn't a place where i can bolt the adaptor into. the sensor goes into a solid length of pipe that runs from the throttle body down to a small filter which pipe clamps to another pipe straight down to the filter behind the fender. any ideas on how to fix this the car is idling all over the place and i'm sucking way too much air?

that's the coolest thing i've ever seen. that is my car. literally that kid took off the nismo intake and it is now on one of my buddies cars. the problem i have is that i have a different generation intake and the setup is different but the very guy who put it in on that other post figured out how i think we can make it work on mine. thanks alot!
