Can't get out of 4WD
My 2000 QX4 has been stuck in 4WD. I've tried reversing and pulling forward again and it's not working. The switch won't go past 4H. Just won't turn further. So I can switch from 4LO to 4HI but not into AUTO or 2WD. Help.

That's the one I read and tried the remedies suggested, but they didn't work. Other ideas?

Wish I could help. My Pathfinder 4WD doesn't have a dashboard knob selector, just the shift lever.

Sounds like the switch is stuck/ broken ... the transfer case is electric. it just does what the switch says to do. Have you tried pushing and pulling on the switch?
You need to be in "N" for the Low high and you push the switch. Is it stuck in ... it will not turn to 4H or auto if it is.
Forward reverse is for the manual system -- your problem is the switch

You cannot switch back to auto or 2wd if the vehicle is in 4L. How is it driving? is it acting like it is in 4H or 4L?
Shift into N as yeldogt suggested and try pushing the knob in and turning to the left. Then wait a few seconds. These electronic systems are always a bit temperamental.
