GENERALLY, the same <could> be said about marriage: too many modern-day compromises for it to be both meaningful and beneficial to both sides....making the whole institution a wash. People are still getting married every day....hoping for the best....maybe with good intentions, maybe not. Present-day divorce rate is a good indicator of the absolute lack of "family-oriented" lifestyle....the very thing that helped make this country great.
You'll notice the "Greatest generation", who suffered through the great depression and the last world war, those men and women stuck it out....looked for the positives....WORKED at their marriage, didn't give up, didn't throw in the towel when things got ugly. Generally, they did not get divorced. Generally, the leaders, citizens, families of that time had a greater sense of morality and basic core values....and not nearly as many lifestyle issues such as gays in the military, zero-emission vehicles, teenage mothers, darwin/evolution being the only curriculum, NAMBLA(sp?), and so on.
The tie-in between poor present day politicians and present day marriage/family is clear. Today, too many issues cloud the moral skyline, too many compromises dilute the political water. There used to be a time when rules were rules, men were men, and they stood by their word. Bush presents himself as a throwback, old-school, with traditional beliefs and traditional lifestyle. His style will irk the liberal, green left to no end.
It's no secret that Bush is big with industrialism. Industry builds nations. If you disagree with Bush and his policy, what are you doing to present a real world solution?
EDIT: uh oh, I sense a bit of tension in that last bit. Not trying to be argumentative...
