This is the first time i've ever put a hole in a piston yes. And I wouldn't know, when it happened a was at the track 2nd gear around 8krpms, i couldn't hear s***t.bersh240 wrote: it didnt make a sound while it did it? first one that ever blew on you?
I won't.ILoveMyRHS13 wrote:Put it back in.
You won't.
I wonder if jb weld would seal it enough to drive it. lolILoveMyRHS13 wrote:
What the hell are you doing revving a ka to 8k? Were you trying to put the #3 rod through the block and just happened to f**k up a piston first?Future_gohan wrote:

The detonation is from me still driving it around after that happened. I put over 50 miles on this engine once that happened.boriquaS13 wrote:lmao, detonation everyones worst enemy.
Honestly I'm just going to be doing a lot of machine work and such because i wanna do it all wile the engine is apart, I'm looking for the same as last year, just more reliable.boriquaS13 wrote:Nice, its going to be pretty nasty after the rebuild. How much more boost are you planning on running? hp goal?
Turn it into the piston cupFuture_gohan wrote:
I should do something with it. lol Hmm ideasss!?
I know, I might get it dyno'd next year.kouki munster wrote:Just because your still in boost up to 8k doesn't mean that your power curve hasn't taken a nose dive.
That is not a good explanation, KA's don't just blow up randomly. Revving to 8k without a fully balanced crank blew your motor...finally. Your tune probably had some problems as well.Future_gohan wrote:
Lev - 10k miles on a ka-t at 18psi stock bottom end.
lol what if he didnissanman04 wrote:throw it back in, it's fine
lmao! My bearings are fine, and my tune is fine. Thanks for the information thoughwhite_ashes wrote:isnt the stock redline on a ka 6300? what the hell are you thinking with 8k......whoever setup your ka fails. ka is a torque based motor. you most like fried your bearings too........
Yes engines blow because for whatever they just can't take anymore abuse, but pistons don't get holes in them without something causing it.(most likely a lean condition)Future_gohan wrote:

Well, my engine has been threw a lot of abuse, yeah it could be leaning out, but I don't think so, The engine was stock, i never touched it, the pistons can't hold the boost i was pushing, but it doesn't matter, i'm getting a new tune sometime next yearkouki munster wrote:

Edit: Just read one of your earlier posts, and all the visible signs of detonation on that piston did not show up because the hole was there. With the hole in that piston there was most likely just enough compression for that cylinder to fire. Witch means that there was no way that it was detonating after the hole was there.
Check your tune somewhere its to lean and/or the timing is to advanced.

A big hole in your piston does not indicate that the pistons buckled under too much power. You had a t28 correct? If that is the case, 18psi in a walk in the park for a stock KA if it is properly set up/tuned/not revved to 8k like a fool.Future_gohan wrote:Well, my engine has been threw a lot of abuse, yeah it could be leaning out, but I don't think so, The engine was stock, i never touched it, the pistons can't hold the boost i was pushing, but it doesn't matter, i'm getting a new tune sometime next year
