Im trying to sell my 300z and i need to know what a reasonable price is....the car is a 93 Nissan 300zx 5-speed T-tops with 105k mi, the interior is in very good shape, the exterior has a custom blue paint job but has been done ****ty becasue of the ppl i bought it from wrecked, and fixed it except for some minor under-hood dents, so the paintjob is a lil crappy, it also needs new tires and a camber kit to fix the camber because its lowered about an inch...i bought this car only 2 weeks ago and changed my mind after i bought it i wanna geta 240sx S15 instead....so please if you could tell me some prices that i should try and sell it for ty.

Well...Edmunds, which is usually high shows the following (assuming it's a 2 seater and not a 2+2).

Dealer Trade In: $4,479Private Party: $5,655Dealer Retail: $7,663

Without seeing photos, it's hard to judge the condition of the car. If the paint and tires and pretty bad, you might be looking at $4K. Search around and see what other Z's are going for. Ebay Motors is always a good place to check out what the market is like.

BTW, why are you selling the Z? It's definitely an awesome car. The Z cars are icons, and NA or not it's still cool.

What??? Do you want to buy a 98 and do the S15 front end swap? Or are you saying you want to buy 95-96 S14 and swap on a 97-98 front end?

Yes, what? There were two options, so you can't just say yes and answer my question.

Why don't you just buy a 97 or a 98? Save yourself some time! What's wrong with a Zenki anyway?

You're talking to a bunch of people that haven't sold Z's. You were given a few good resources. Did you at least look up Edmunds and KBB? And as BadMojo said, ebay is always a good gauge of prices.

Was any work done to the car before you bought it? It's ten years old...is it leaking any oil? Does it run OK? Stable idle?

If the shocks weren't replaced, they could be blown. The bushings could be wearing out after 10 years. Depending on prior driving habits, the clutch might be on it's last legs.

Do the t-tops leak?

If the paint job isn't the greatest, you might not be able to get $5K for it.

Just so you're aware, you're probably going to have a tough time finding a nice 240SX at a decent price right now...some people have been looking for months.

I'd say between $4-5000. It has been in a wreck, needs new tires, new paint, and a camber fix.

My friend owns a 300zx and its a great car. Personally I would keep it because:1. its a Z2. nice power and styling3. its still relatively under the radar

I don't see how you can buy a car then change your mind 2 weeks after because it was not "your style." You should have test driven the 240sx and 300zx and done some research beforehand. But I guess its a learning experience, but a costly one at that.

The S15 wasn't offered here. If you get a 96 240sx and change the front to a 98, its stll an S14. The 1997-98 240sx was just restyled, but its still the S14 chassis. Again, do some research.

The Z is still a very capable car, and you should learn more about it. I say take things slow as you are only sixteen, and you seem to keep stressing that fact. Learn about what you are dealing with and make reasonable decisions. Also, in your previous thread you listed things you bought for your car, but why didn't you spend it on maintenance? You should also make sure you buy quality products rather than that "Mugen" ebay intake kit. Maintenance first, Upgrades second. But anyway, live and learn, and good luck with your future ventures.

Honesty, if you're just 16 years old, don't bother with anything close to a remotely "fast" car - just learn to drive. Well. My recommendation is to buy some cheaper car to learn on, and in a year or so you can give a shot at that dream S14 of yours when you're ready. The Classic SE-R's are cheap, reliable, get good gas mileage, nice trunk/backseat room, attracts less attention (no one wants to do anything with a sentra), not too hard to find, sexay, much better insurance than the Z's by far (and probably the 240's as well), and loads of fun. I wish I hadn't messed up my clutch learning to drive on my SE-R. But point being, as long as its a manual, you can always find some way to have fun driving with it.

But thats just me trying to convert another to the sentra crowd

I say you not sell the Z, dont jump on the 240sx silvia sr20dett24kadet bandwagon, and quit worrying about it. If you want to sell it because it truly is too expensive for you to keep, then fine, but dont buy a damn 240 just because its the cool jdm tyte thing to do.

I'd ask 5k first for it and go down.

Haha...

I tell you what, when I get rid of the car I'll let you swap them out before it leaves my driveway. (especially if it ends up going to a dealer for trade in)

All:

The man asked a polite question.

You will either answer it, or stay out of this thread!

If he doesnt know and is not in the in-crowd that knows whats cool, that doesnt give you the right to treat him like dirt.

Fred..

PS: And folks ,you will not post a reply here arguing this with me.

It is where I'm from. Please be nice.

Statix, I agree, $4K seems to be a fair starting price. The Z is a lot of car for a 16 y.o., especially given its insurance rates and maintenance costs.
