since the previous gen sentra se-r spec v and our 1st gen coupes share the same motor, i heard we can also share the same aftermarket cams. i probably read this somewhere else or here.

so my question is, can we use aftermarket sentra spec v cams and what benefit would they do for us. i'm never really hear the benefits from cams but i know that they change the timing on the valves opening and closing.

edumacate me

some people (like me) would rather have a turbo charged four on the brink of exploding verse a v6. the qr25 is a relatively new engine and since mostly everybody buys the 2.5 there are going to be more mods for it soon. i dont know how weak the block itself is but with new internals reving to 7500 rpms would be possible. as soon as i get my 370z this car is going to become my project. i really want to see a 300hp qr25 with a 9000rpm redline that is as reliable as stock. but we all know thats a dream

would b neat. although i would like to have that too, i think i'll work on the turbo thing in the future when i make that extra paper. and i noticed it also that almost all coupes i see are 2.5. 1 of 10 are v6but i also have the cvt so i is scared to blow the transmission even though i know they have done the turbo cvt successfully with transmission coolers.

thanks! i thought every1 had pretty much the same look but then i noticed mine was a bit different. although the shop did a crappy job on painting and mounting it i still love it. gotta fix the sagging grill one day though.

some guys on a QR25 forum had 1 motor up to 500whp...I'm sure there's not much stock on the motor anymore, but yeah, it can be built like whoa.

the 2.5 and 3.5 have different CVT transmissions, mehdi showed all the details and everything in his post about a LSD (Limited slip differential).... but it should be able to take 300 hp (but i'm no expert, this is just my guess)

there IS NO WAY the 2.5 CVT can hold 300whp. that is impossible. only way to have 300hp on the 2.5S CVT is to do transmission swap with the 3.5SE CVT OR do a manual swap. why do guys think the caliber srt-4 has ditched the JF011E CVT transmission it was using on all the lesser models? because there is no way in hell it can hold its 300Horses and 260ft/lb of torque. it's using a proper 6speed manual and not offering the more powerfull JF010E CVTransmission because that one is used only by nissan like on the 3.5SE altima and the new maxima. even the 07+ Sentra specV has ditched the JF011E cvt and it ONLY has 200hp. imagine 300hp on the cvt. NO WAY you'll be able to hold that without a transmission swap to 6spmanual or to the beefier cvt from the 3.5SE.btw a 6spd transmission swap should be easy for you 2.5S guys if you take the specV transmission. it should be close if not a direct fit.

the cams should work. email JWT about their cams. but thre real problem isn't the QR holding up its more the CVT transmission holding you down.

aw snap. well i mean i don't rly know what the pros and cons are either and was hoping some1 who actually has swapped out cams in their motor can tell me the benefit. or some1 who actually knows the benefits. i know it can affect the idle n what not. i think they have nismo cams for the sentra so i mean if its in the nismo catalog it shouldn't be something that affects the motor negatively but thats just me

You can tell from the graph that peak exhaust peak intake and so and so are changed in timing and value. Idle will supposedly be rougher than stock but shouldn't be too bad. In essence, swap it out only if you feel the need to maintain high RPMs more than street driving / highway cruising as these are tuned more for performance.

How much hp will these produce?

Will they just bolt on or will you need a tune?

Why get a 3.5 with a castrated v6 from a 350z when you could get a real car the 350z.

ok ok ok , thats it i had enough with this 3.5 2.5 BS. were all altima coupes!!!!!we have the best chance here. we have a I4 and a V6 version of this car, we could get both to be fast, anything is possable,(it may take a little more work with one than the other, but still) we have to start acting like a family and pull together. now know there are some people that are helping both cars, but there are still some that that remain 3.5 only minded. we got to get past this if we want to move forward

sorry for taking the point away 2.5 cams
