The first thing to start on the QR25DE is the balance shaft removal kit. The cams cost $500 while the kit only costs like $80.The cylinder block is good but the stroke length is too long and acts as a rev limiter in that sense. And yes, the general consensus is that transmission will be more of a problem in terms of a increase in hp/tq.

Why get a 3.5 with a castrated v6 from a 350z when you could get a real car the 350z.
my dad actually wanted to buy me a 07 350z with the VQ35HR motor (better then the V6 we have) and i chose the altima coupe.... why get a 3.5se when you can get a Z? why not? altima coupe weighs less and looks a thousand times better in my opinion PLUS it has a back seat with lots of room and 1/2 a normal size trunk as opposed to a Z with no back seat and no trunk.... some people want a fast car that can be a daily driver and in my opinion, the Z cant be a daily driver..... and i've even beaten a couple Z's with my 3.5se so the Z isnt much faster but makes a horrible daily driver

i dont want to hijack this thread but it looks like i might. Your altima coupe only weighs less than 2006 or later z. If my memory is correct my 2005 350z weighed exactly 3190 pounds, your coupe weighs 3,241. As for daily driver, i drove my z around for 2.5 years as my SOUL car, it is the BEST daily driver i ever had, stock for stock my altima coupe 2.5s as a daily driver is pure trash compared to it, only thing it has is better MPG.It has a trunk but not a huge trunk, it fit every thing in there for my needs.I cant fit any thing in the back seats of the coupe, least not nothing normal human size, im 6 feet tall, nobody wants to be behind me in the coupe due to they will be cramped. As for your kiddy races on the street, take it to a track and see where you stand then come back to me and ill appologize.I wont debate looks becuase thats up to each person, but i will call you crazy on that one, theres a reason why almost all coupe shots are NOT from the side, they need to be at some angle or something hehe.

My point originaly was dont trash the 2.5 saying get a 3.5 becuase if your gonna have that attitude ill talk about the real 3.5 not its red headed step brother.

lol WTF? when did i ever say it was on the street? i have time slips when i did a 13.912 (almost a 13.8) and i saw my friend do a 13.9 in his 350z with an intake manifold and my mechanic said the best he did was a 13.9 in his 2006 350z with an upgraded clutch, and he also did a 14.0 and 14.1 that night..... all the cars went to the same track (sacramento raceway) so i'm not talking about street racing, i'm talking about proven 1/4 mile times tested at the track..... as far as room in the back seat, my friend that's 6'2 had no issues in the back seat and my friend thats 6'5 said he didn't have issues but said it was a bit more crampt then his 5 series but that it had a lot of room for a coupe

ok i appologize your FWD daily driver has quick drag time. Ever try any thing with corners in it and see where you stand?

if i remember tomorrow, i will take picture of my seat and where it sits with out adjusting it, and im pretty sure nobodys squeezing behind me.

My coupe has fit 4 200+ pound guys for road trips, and going from my last car 2004 GTO that would eat 350Z's for fun, the VQ Altima Coupe is a well balanced daily driver and quick when needed...Now when I tested the 2.5 I felt it was a awesome ride for the girlfriend

your GTO would eat alot of cars in a straight line but i think that engine is better served in corvette but thats just me, but once again what does the GTO do in any track with corners?

had nobody to take a picture of me in the seat and the space left over for passangers today

honestly, handling means absolutely nothing to me.... the closest track is a 1/4 mile track and if i want corners i gotta go to the bay area (i think that might be the closest) or go to Nevada (like 2+ hours away). on the streets i've raced many cars in a straight line and straight line performance is something you can always have fun with no matter if its a daily driver or a track only car. the only corners or curves in my area are hwy on ramps lol everything is either very long straights or 90 degree angle turns.

The entire point is dont trash a 2.5 saying get a 3.5, some one actualy liked the 2.5 for what it is, but if we are gonna say get a 3.5 then i feel its ok to point out if you wanted a v6 from nissan get the real deal.

Theres ony 1 car i can think of thats slower than the altima 3.5s that may win in the twistys but i not so sure and its the rx8, So to be a ricer you must have a Rx8?

A ricer is some one in foreign car with the fastest looking body kit. This could be a 350z or a altima 3.5s depends on the user. Where can you find these people, probably at the stop lighting revving at you hahaha.

For the price and what you get I agree the 2.5 coupe is a great looking daily driver and great on gas..For me I couldn't deal with it's lack of performance and while I modded my last 5 cars I wouldn't start with a 4-banger (unless it had a oem turbo...maybe) I would buy a ST1, a G8GT ect...For me the VQ Altima was the bare minimum in power to weight, I needed a car that was nice looking, decent highway milage and would stay on the road in the winter My modded GTO got 12-14 mpg and even with snows was a challange in the winter! So buying a 2.5 car that can't be easily modded with a turbo and a weak transmission looking for power would be dumb!!
