We did a test fit for a carseat and I don't think it's going to work for my coupe. Anyone else have a coupe and an infant? The front seat has to go WAY up for the thing to fit...my wife's knees are an inch away from the glovebox!

What about the sedan...anyone with carseats care to comment?

I may have to sell my 05...sucks because I have a lot of $$ in mods

Not infant, but still a car seat.

I didn't think that a rear facing seat would be that bad...but it's quite large. The seat shown in the link is for a toddler...front facing one.

You and Sean should also be concerned....

Year ago I had a VW Scirocco. And we could not put an infant seat in it. We had the same problem. You had to slide the pass. seat all the way forward and there was just enough room for the seat. And forget about riding safely in the front seat.

And the G's interrior is not much bigger then the Scirocco.

Thanks Joe

I actually suggested to the wife that we go car seat shopping to see what would fit in our cars.

At least her Celica has more interior room than the G, but that doesn't make it ok.

I still can't understand how her Celica could actually FIT into my G (volumetrically), yet the G has so much less interior space.

Ok, here we go. This doesn't mean we're in the clear, but it should help things considerably...

http://www.infiniti.com/pdf/te...e.pdf

This PDF has info from Infiniti on Child Restraint Systems (CRS) that were tested in the 03-05 G35 Coupe. I don't see any reason the 06 and 07 coupes wouldn't also apply.

lol...I'm looking at that PDF right now. It's funny because the coupe has one rear-facing Graco seat that will fit...the sedan doesn't.

http://www.infiniti.com/pdf/te...5.pdf

2-door Alti's are small too...we tried to fit the seat in the wife's lancer, and it wasn't as bad as the G, but still takes up a lot of room. We're getting a new SUV to replace the Lancer anyway...It was just a shock that it wouldn't fit in the G.

Here's a thread about the G... http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=41635

I hate that F***ing b***h who tried to get her BF to get an XB and to get rid of his WRX AND stay away from a G35.

I'm being very responsible about this pregnancy, but that b***h went overboard. I HATE low class idiots!!!

Sorry...I've been reading that stupid thread over the past few days.

For a full sized adult the rear seats on a G35 sedan are kind of snug. Most of the G's space is reserved for the front passengers. I'm not gonna say your gonna have your head between your knees when it comes to space but your not gonna be riding in a Bentley neither. I know this was in ref to child seating but just to give you an idea of how much space is there =)

I recently did a short roadtrip in the coupe with a seat for my 5 year old (not sure if it is called a booster seat). My son in the seat (in the rear) were able to fit behind my wife who was sitting in the front.

I dont think you ideally want to put a rear facing seat in the front because - you can't turn off the front airbag (like you can in some vehicles). In a collision the airbag could explode into the seat forcing it towards the rear.

No, she will definitly go in the back seat.

There is hope...

I'm gonna buy a few different seats and see which one is best. I have a feeling that the one I already have is bigger than most. I'll let you guys know!

Shut-up, Rich.

I've only had my "go-fast" car for 8 months now. If the wife gets to keep her Celica, I get to keep the G.

Although...A suby would be nice lol.

Yes Yes and Yes...I have a 03 sedan and the seat fitted perfect and driverside seat was able to go down to almost a laying position....and one thing good about the 03 ( I dont know about the newer models)is that the rear seats are reclining... so even when ure sitting in the back you can adjust your seat from sitting position to a half way laying position...THats one thing I love about My 03 GHere is a photo Of the backseat with a baby seat

I dont know for a fact but personally i think 03-04 has more room in the back.... Correct me if Im wrong, Im not trying to bash newer models ( I love them all lol)

Front-facing seats don't take up as much room as the rear-facing ones...but I think we're going to be OK.

I bought a few seats last night and here are my results:

Graco "Quatro": The rear-facing seat only gave about 2" of leg room. (my wife is 5'4") The front seat had to be WAY up! This is what set the panic.

Evenflo "Discovery": would not work with my Graco stroller. It looked smaller than the Graco "Quatro" travel system I already have, but since it was a no-go with the stroller, I didn't go any further.

Graco "Snug Ride": Works with my Graco stroller, much smaller than the Graco Quatro! There was about 3-4 inches more knee-room with this seat. If I can prop it up so the front lip over the top of the front seat, I could probably get a few more inches.

So, instead of buying another base for our Quatro, we're going to buy another car seat just for the G.

My recommendation is to test the seat you get, before the baby comes...you can always return it for another one

There are different phases in the childs life in the car. First when it is in the child seat. Then start to grow and start kicking the seat front of her/him. Mosr anoying thing when you are in that seat. Can't even tell them not to do it because they are not at the stage they would understand it also you don't want to hurt their feelings.

The point is if you having problem to put the seat in right now. Maybe a year or so you'll have even bigger problems. I would seriously consider a family sedan.I would not go as far as the Taurus wagon tho.( I have to admit that was a popular and reliable car) Perhaps an X just in case your wifey wants to take it. Let me tell you something. They have addiction after the first few drives. So be careful. Also most familes won't stop at 1. So before you realize it. You are married to a soccer mom and have to buy a mini van. I am not helping here am I ? j/k

Sometimes I am glad my son is bigger now.

I would seriously buy a sedan and you'll be ok for anything.

Joe,

Thanks for the recommendations. I wend to Babies R Us last night and the Manager was super helpful and took a couple of the seats outside to fit in the G.

If it was just me that the kid in the G, there wouldn't be a problem, but having my wife there too was pretty cramped.

I'll take a look at the Snug Ride. I think we'll end up buying 2 seats. One convertible and one rear facing only.

Ok... I had a WRX wagon ('05) and the back seat was tiny. When we had our little one, we got ourselves a Eddie Bauer car seat/stroller system. It WOULD fit in the WRX, but the person in front was eating their knees for breakfast.

The engine on the little WRX let go at 30k (bearing failure, it was properly lubed all of its life).

That was enough to start a new car search. Rear-facing baby-seat in tow, we went to a stack of dealerships looking at cars. The Acura TSX and Volvo S60 were all too small in the back seat, as was the Audi A4. But the rear-facing baby seat fit juuuust fine in the back of the G with space for the wife in front.

So, an '08 G35xS is what I drive now. And love it.

And our little monkey is too big for the original car seat - so we replaced it with a pair of Britax seats. The roundabout model is the one in my car, and it fits without a problem.

So, good luck. I found the G35 sedan to have plenty of space in back for a baby seat.

I registered here to say that... if you need pics, and I don't reply here, hit me up at username at gmail dawt com.

By the way, the 90 degree opening rear doors in the sedan are full of win when it comes to loading little ones in the car. So is unlocking it without fishing for the keys or remote.

If you get a sedan 06 and older with premium package a or b or c you get the nice back seats! I love that about the car too! Of course I have never once sat in the rear seats while the car is moving!

Be careful buying a seat. I had one in the back of my 04' sedan and it left 4 dime sized holes in the leather. Whenever I look at the holes a tear comes to my eye. The seat fit fine but the holes, no good. Wish i knew the seat model.

I bought a rubber pad thing that goes under the seat to prevent damage to the leather. Hopefully it will work.

Steve (MTechnik), thanks for the pic and welcome to NICO! BTW, are you prior military? (name sounds familiar)

If you would have bought a Rubber..... You wouldn't need a pad under a car seat to prevent damage to the leather

Sorry Joe... But I had to do it!
