Broadfield, I love your STI, I think even more than your 240, do you mind giving me any details on the motor? Tell me you had a rotated 40R setup on there, that would just make my day.

The Sti wasn't too crazy. There wasn't any rotated kits available at the time I owned it. However, I purchased a 35R rotated kit that was in development..... I would have had one of the 1st ones. But the people building it basically sat on my money and never built the kits. So luckily I was able to get my money back. I then sold the car shortly after. Did you see pics in my Fotki or something?

Here is the mod list from when I sold it:

how do they do that? I'm guessing some metallic plating and a heating procedure? I doubt those are titanium brakes...

yeah i was thinking that too, doubt they are titanium or they are BIG $$$$. the bluing is kind of like how they do it for handguns i would think. but instead of steel, it's aluminum. some form of heat treating.

Well, I got everything back from being powder coated. Everything looks great. I had the front hats of the Stoptech rotors, the fixed hats of the Z32 rears and the front hub dust caps done in black. Everything else bright white of course. I need to assemble everything, but first I am going to re-zinc plate all of the bolts and hardware. I will then dip them in a black chromate for a black finish. Once the calipers are assembled I will need to paint the "NISSAN" lettering black in the Z32's and I have black "STOPTECH" high temp caliper stickers for the fronts.

Here is a few pics of the powder coat job and a couple of my electroplating setup. I still need a couple more small items to get my electroplating setup rolling...... hopefully I'll be in full swing tonight.

Yeah, I'm pretty pumped too! I fired up my electroplating setup last night for the first time. It's probably one of the coolest experiences I have ever had. I zinc plated one of the big Stoptech caliper bolts, a washer, a backing plate etc. as a test. Turned out pretty damn good. I then dipped them in a black chromate to get a black finish. I will then probably spray then a gloss black for a final color. I'll be sure to post up some pics of the process later. I am in the process of building a tumbler system for the plating tank so I can plate mass quantities of bolts/nuts etc. at one time.

A little teaser pic: Almost done assembling them

Also some pics of my finished zinc plating. Any thing that was painted black, as far as hardware etc., was also zinc plated before painting.

Looks like a meth lab. There is also a before shot of a retaining clip too so you can see the difference.

Just thought I would post up an update. Brakes are done and back on the car.

I don't have official pics of them on the car yet... I just finished them and it's still winter here.

Here are some pics of the hardware I plated gold and black. Then a couple of the calipers reassembled. These were taken before I painted the raised letters on the Z32's black.

The black hardware looks wet because it gets doused with WD40 as a final sealant.

Did you post the interior stuff for sale yet? And are you going to sell the wheels to buy new ones or just keep the mesiters as beater wheels?

Actually it's easy to match. There is a Honda color that is spot on. However, I had them on my Sti, so I figured I would do something different than what I have already had.

AHHHHHHHHH!

I did not know this thread was being updated.... Errr did not notice rather!

So you can do this to any bolt right?

Because any bolt that can be seen on the interior i would like this done too, IF you are selling your services with your new gama-trans-generator-flux-awesomeness machine ....

I Love You.....

I am going to start calling your Dr.Manhattan...

And the best part about this shizzle is the fact that it has its advantages! its not just for show! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I cant get over it.....

Good Show!

One Love,

I got your back man! Send me some bolts

I can Zinc plate iron or steel bolts/parts/plates etc...... as long as if fits in my plating tank.

I am going to get the stuff to do anodizing..... then I will be able to do aluminum.
