My point through out this thread is The Nissan engineers tuned the M45 to perform through optimizing the intake and exhaust to the programming of the computer programed timing and fuel air mix. When I first got my license in 1967 the thing to do was on Sat night take your mothers 318 2 barrel Plymouth Belvedere and take off the air cleaner. It sounded like a Ram Charger. It actually may have hurt the performance and for sure was not good for the life of the engine. But most importantly I grew up.

Thinking that any brand of CAI or oiled K&N dropin or cone filter can increase the air flow into engine by more than 1/2>1%** over oem design proves you don't understand the engine physics.

99% of the aftermarket CAI and Filters brands use out and out marketing lies* to fool the gullable into buying their products.

** Easy to test and prove with a Dwyer Manometer calbrated to read in 0.01 inches of water column.

* Lies might be too strong they use complex words and test proceedures to manipulate data so it APPEARS favorable to their products for the non technical non engineers who might be persuaded to buy.

Where would all these hucksters be [unemployment office] if it wasn't for the gullability of US young adults and some old guys too.

Amazing a guy with a hacksaw thinks he can improve an intake system that Nissan spent hundreds of thousands of dollars designing and testing.

The modification aftermarket would collapse without these fools, but at least the few who survived would be the ones who did their homework.

Sounds more powerful! Vrooom Vrroooom.

.................soooo , i'm curious; you are stating that improving the intake on ANY car (forget about the M45 for a second) is all a big sham? i just want to make sure this is what you are saying before i continue on with my reply mr. 300k mile Q45....

Lets let these guys drink their Koolaid and we'll drink ours - as stated before MODS could you keep these koolaid drinkers out of performance related posts?

What kind of website is this? If you aren't into taking your car to the dealership to get it fixed so it runs 300k mi then you are an idiot/fool/dumb kid/stupid. Really? is this what this site is about? if it is then it has to be the lamest bunch I've ever seen. And you are comparing your old a** carburated engine to the m45 engine? and you are calling us fools?? lol

And if you are serious that you can't improve on an intake that a nissian spent so much money on - WOW Then I'll just sit over here and enjoy my 2-3mpg better fuel economy and significantly more enjoyabe drive and watch you die slow in your metal coffin. I bet none of the nay sayers even drive an M

And to you sir that is trying to quote physics, what exactly do you do again? Aren't you a mechanic? wtf do you know about physics? why don't you enlighten me with your profound knowledge. I can back up what I know, what about you? If anyone wants to go head to head with me on this subject, try me. I will humiliate you.

It seems Q45 Tech and Maxnix are less than convinced of your fine tuning of the M45.Why don't you settle this with some hard data. You need to do something because your own admissions leave us with " it sounds cool". Humiliation will never come from Hubris. Oh by the way 2004 M45 bought new bone stock. Its kissed 140 mph and has run consistently 13.8-14 sec 1/4 mile ET , 19 mpg intown/highway 26mpg @ 75 mph

I think we have beaten this topic to death. Neither side is going to convince the other about the rightness of their positions without formal measured prood.

Hence, this thread is now locked from further posts.
