The Cadillac CTS-V seems to me that it would be a nice drive, but one thing that I didn't like when I saw it in person was that mesh grill. It looks so cheap. I'd also expect better fit and finish fo a $50,000 car. I read the August Car & Driver's reveiw on the new STS. They seemed to be very impresed with the car. Almost saying that it was as good as a 740. They tested the AWD V8 model for about $62K. I was like DAMN!!! That's to much money for a Caddy. The hell with that. I'd rather have the New RWD V8 M45 and still have some change for the snow tires. That blows the the V8 M45 is not being made AWD.

Guess I can give a somewhat qualified answer on this topic, as I own both a caddy (99 deville) and 2 G50 Q's.

No need for a shouting match, they are both good cars which serve their intended market. I drive a TON of miles per year, so I rotate between the cars and like them each for different reasons.

Those who don't think GM is serious need to drive the new units and re-evaluate. Sure, the older Caddy's (late 70's, 80's early 90's) were crap, the newer units are fairly well built and hold up very well considering the selling price is thousands less than the competition, especially 2-3 years old. (MSRP is a joke on domestic luxury cars)

My Caddlilac dealer service has been MUCH BETTER than infiniti's, on every occasion. (I won't ever go back to the local Q dealer, only T3 for me.)

The new SVX, CTS and STS are simply stunning for the performance and the price.

I enjoy the deville as much as either Q for highway driving, while I'm not a big fan of it's backroad abilites. I'm certain the new Deville with remedy that issue, and the Northstar V8 is a GREAT motor.

My main issues were interior quality, but they seem to be making great strides in both design and finish.

While I'd never buy a new one because of depreciation, used they are a BARGAIN, and that's where the sweet spot is for mid-market luxury cars.

Just got back from checking one out at my local dealer. As it sat in the show room the CTS-V was a decent looking well equipped piece. The salesman said they were only going to get one of them, so no test drive and $5K extra markup. They also were unable to answer any tech questions I had. Doesn't it just figure that for the first time in 35 years Cadillac makes a car I'm interested in, then they make the buying experience so unsavory that I walk away.

What, they didn't have a bench for you on which to bend over?

So much for customer service (servicing?)! I am truly shocked.

Clearly your expectations were way too high... :)

I've begun to expect the absolute worst, and am pleasantly surprised on occasion when a car dealership employee is competent...

Sad...

I'm off to the MB dealership tonight to poke around (E55 and CLK)... low expectations...
