So I have a few question regarding the CA18DET.

1st: I want to know about the sr20 clutch. Is it has easy then to put the sr20 flywheel and the sr20clutch.From the pic I saw the clearance with the starter seemed good. Has for the bellhousing I want to know more. Enough clearance?

2nd: I remember earing about using an exhaust cam on the intake side. Not sure if it was only for the KA24 so that's why I'm asking. I have another engine sitting in my garage so I thought I could use the cam.

3rd: The butterfly thing. Does it realy help on the top end. Is it worth it for the low end torque you loose?I'm more into drifting so sometime those first rpm are needed.

4th: I think I will rebuilt my engine this winter for peace of mind. Do I just need to use the ca18de gasket kit: Has for piston ring and crank bearing do I use the same has the ca18de or the ca18det use a different set and are stronger?

I know that a few questions have been asked before but they where never realy clear.

hoo and last question. What does a CA18DET put out at the RW with those mods(approx):

SR20DET T25(12psi)full 3inch exhaust(from dump pipe to muffler)intercooler440cc injectN60/62mafca18 exhaust intake balblaa*(the 2nd question if it works)tune DAH!

i believe if you use a sr20de clutch and flywheel youll be fine. they are 225mm. the sr20det clutch is 240mm i think, and so you need to use a different starter (s12?).

the intake cam is 7.8mm lift, the exhaust cam is 8.5mm lift. using an exhaust cam is a slight improvement. ive got this going on right now in my engine.

the butterfly thing is worth it if you think it is. are you going to be driving around town a lot? or are you going to primarily be thrashing it around at high rpm? if you plan on the latter you might as well remove them, as they are just going to be a restriction.

the ca18de gaskets and bearings and rings are all the same as the det. youll be fine using them, as im sure most of us are.

power wise, you might be able to eek 220whp out of it at 12psi. ive got a different setup (and my car doesnt even run) so i cant really tell you for sure. somewhere in the 200-220whp range though. either way itll be pretty quick.

thanks for the answer!

For the SR20 clutch I was talking about the 240mm(SR20DET). I want to know if its has simple to put the sr20det clutch and flywheel.Nobody has done this before?

5th question: The motor mounts. I have the stock motor mounts(Original Silvia). What can I use. I heard in the other thread that cusco sr20 motor mounts work well. I want something stiffer but not inconfortable(vibrations!).What are you using and how do you like it?

Can I keep my CA18DET transmission with the sr20 clutch/flywheel or it will not fit?

transmission is fine. but for as long as i can remember you need the hitachi gear reduction starter if you're using SR20DET flywheel and clutch... unless someone recently found a way to use the stock unit.

i really know what you need. the stock starter will work fine. you can use the sr clutch and flywheel with the stock ca18det starter. i just said that in my last post. im using this setup right now. it will work fine. you dont need a different starter to run the sr clutch and flywheel. do i have to repeat myself again?

I dont know what starter you have but i have been having problem getting a starter that will work. The stock CA starter in no way shape or form will work. The hood for the gear hits the mounting surface of the flywheel where the pressure plate mounts. And the hitachi gear reduction starter is making the worst grinding noise i have ever heard when i try and start the car. Like the gear don't mesh correctly.

i just know what im using and that it works. STi sent me an s14 gearbox, SR clutch, flywheel, and starter for free to compensate for sending me and AUTO CA18. i had them send me a starter for the hell of it, i was worried the standard one would work because of posts ive seen. noticed that the sr starter would never work. put the flywheel and clutch on, all fine and dandy, put the ca starter on, it went right it, no problems. still kind of worried it wouldnt work when i went to start it. went to start it and still, fine and dandy. maybe the auto and manual starters are different?? maybe he didnt send me an sr clutch and flywheel? but that wouldnt make sense.

have you tried using the old ca starter?
