A ca18 making 400+ atw day in/day out reliably is a hefty challenge, that only a select few have achieved. CA 'teeth marks' retire many.
Lack of traction will bail out your gbox on street rubber.... or send u into a tree if you're unlucky = game over/ adapted gbox for sale.Get the picture ?
all this yappin is all well n' good, but may be for nought imo. I say build the dam car already. You may not even need a gbox upgrade.
dash,I am actually on the fence about it but in all reality this is a project. this is not going to be my daily driver, but i want it to be able to be driven daily if need be. i am taking my time with this build and don't want to risk the chance of blowing a transmission and have it worth nothing than getting a transmission spending a few extra hundred bucks and having the assurance that its not going to blow up on me. I am looking at the bigger picture. since i am building this car from the ground up i am looking at all aspects and making sure i build it right the first time. its like building a 4000$ engine and tossing a 300$ ebay turbo on it. it just does not make sense. Reliability and building it right the first time means alot to me.
and if i took the advise of some of the folks on here that told me to throw the CA18 in the car and drive it like it is, I would be in some serious trouble. the CA i got was one of the "good ones" and had some seroius water passageway buildup and blockage. the head passages were soo bad i had a hard time cleaning them out with a file. So in reality i am taking this one step at a time and doing as much as i can right as possible. thanks for your input i value it.
