What's up everybody, I'm new here, joined the club about a week ago trying to find some helpful stuff for my girlfriends 2001 nissan pathfinder, you guys/girls have been helpful, I own an acura TL but looking to get a G35 coupe.

I have a few questions concerning the coupe, I'm looking to get either a 2003 or a 2004, are there any major differences that would have a major impact on my decision? How is the car overall? Anything I should be concerned about? Thanks in advance for your help, just want to get a overall view on this car.

Welcome to NICO!

The early model years had a few changes between 03 and 04, however the 05 had a significant number of changes.

Do a search for a more detailed list, but here is a quick rundown of the coupe.

03 to 04 minor changes with a mid year change as well.

05 new stereo head deck, RevUp engine design, no brembro brakes offered.

06 minor interior changes, all wheel steering available, different spoiler.

07 not sure....

08 total redesign!

If I do the leg work (finger work) to gather up the relavent info, will a mod add this info to the index?

I think our there should be far more in the index than currently exists. Especially since the mod data base kind of got out of control with people not sticking to the format and chatting with each other.

After 4 1/2 years of ownership, my biggest 3 complaints are the following: The G35 Coupes eat tires. There are numerous issues with front inside tire feathering and rear middle tread excessive wear. My second biggest complaint is endless rattles. The paint is quite weak and very susceptible to chips. Getting a clear bra is a good idea. There are additional issues but these are the biggest. The car is still a great value, great acceleration, good brakes, reliable and good service from Infiniti. Again, it would be a very good idea to read as much as possible on different forums with regards to any issues with these cars. You can also check the TSBs on them as well. This may sound alittle on the negative side, but to those who are concerned, these problems exist on the Coupes. One thing that keeps me going is there doesn't seem to be a car on the road with the great looks of the Coupe at a similar price. Good luck.

Go for it... if there is anything you want to do or put together that you think may help people. Joe and I will go through whatever you put up and try to get it into the appropriate place.

+1 and VERY cool of you to offer your time!

Camber adjusters should fix the inner feather problem. And the rear tire wear sounds like you might be over inflating your tires.

Welcome to NICO

IMHO buy the newest you can afford. Perhaps your girlfriend can help you out?

I almost bought the Acura TL but preferred the comfort and handling of the G 35. The one thing that I liked about the Acura was caller ID display on the dash on an incoming call with bluetooth. I was disappointed to find out the G35 doesn't have that feature. The Acura only came with XM radio and I have to have Sirius for Howard Stern. I also prefer rwd.

Most members on this site will ask you to post pictures of your vehicle. Not me! I'd rather see a picture of your hot girlfriend.

Welcome to Nico!!!We (wife) almost bought a TL. Wife wanted it & I wanted her to get the G.Found a slightly used TL at the Infiniti dealer and was ready to pull the trigger, when the wife decides she wants to drive the G She drove them back to back and admitted she liked the way the G drove better!!! Not knocking the TL, it's a great driving car!!!I just prefer RWD(bought it NEW thru our local Nissan dealer instead!!! )

Anyway, buy newest possible. I hear the 6MT is week in the 03's. Would really test it out if you go that route.

Thanks guys for all the helpful advice, question, when I tell people I want to switch from the TL to the G35 they give me a funny look like why would you want to go from front wheel drive to rear wheel drive, from what I know it's not good in snow or rain, why do you guys think rear wheel drive is a plus? Interested in knowing......Thanks

Rear wheel is not necessarily better but it is sure as h*#l fun to drive! Most of the time I just set the cruise control since I'm paid for my drive time but it is awesome to have the power when you want it. I have never regretted buying it (my husband has...but I haven't )

If you are concerned with wet/snow consider a G35X sedan.

Cool, not that concerned with rain/snow, I don't even drive that much, just wanted to know pros of having rear wheel drive opposed to the cons I already know about, thanks everybody!

RWD vehicles just handle better. Living in LI I don't think snow is much of a factor for you? I try to work from home in bad weather or just leave work when it starts to snow & work remotely the rest of the day from home. The G35 6speed manual is awesome. The G35X in my opinion sucks. Sorry guys! I had a G35X loaner for a week & hated it. The MPG is also better on the 6 speed. I have a 100 mi per day commute so MPG does matter to me.

I test drove a G35X before we bought our G35. Really couldn't tell any difference. maybe you got a bad one. Or, maybe somebody put regular gas in it.
