Looking to buy 6MT Coupe - Need advice

Hello everybody, i'm new to the forums and have my sights on buying a 6MT Coupe but wondering if you had to work within 2003-2005, which year would you buy and why? Price is not an issue, i'm just referring to the intregrity of the the vehicle ie. which year has least issues etc. or is the best bang for your buck.

2004... you get brembos, upgraded center console, LSD and it's 5K or more cheaper then a 05-07.

Get 2007 Projector lights off ebay for < $300 and 2007 Tail lights for < $400 and it's basicly the same as a 2007..

You don't want a rev up engine.. (06-07) they have less torque in the lower RPM range.

Get the 06 if you can afford it, otherwise 05 is better then 03-04. Brembos aren't all that, my brakes on 05 stop just fine and there is no brake dust or extremely expensive brake jobs to do. And everything after 04 has LSD.

05 has a better looking interior in my opinion.

Get the newest you can afford.. I had an 05 before my 07 and loved it.

03 - first year so there are some issues (always a gamble when you buy year 1)

04 - some bugs worked out but does have the Brembos. They wear fast and can be costly to replace (That's why they are no longer on the G's)

05- excellent year for the G

I prefer the Rev up engine personally...

that doesn't make any sense, why would you want to upgrade to earlier style brakes, just because of the brand name? Have you seen any raw data to support your thesis that 04 brakes stop faster then 05?

Well... I'm pretty sure Kenrik's right as far as Brembo performance.

It's just the replacement cost that would turn me away from it..

I agree. Newer is almost always better. I saw an '05 Sedan 6MT for about 20K in vegas...

Since the 08's just came out, prices have gone down and you can get some great deals

better resale value, warranty, bugs worked out on 05+.

The 03-04 also have a faulty stereo head deck (on some models). I love my 05 RevUp

Wow, you guys are great and offer a lot of good information .. thanks for helping me break down the vehicles.. looks like i'm going to focus on the 2004 or 2005 but i'll let you guys know what i end up with soon enough.. i have a friend that works at Nissan and shes hooking me up with the guy that buys at the auctions so i'm hoping i'm able to get a good deal on a car... The cars that come through the auctions are the ones that have just come off a 4 year lease so i know i'm getting a pretty good deal as the cars are dealer serviced.. Anyways thanks again.. if anyone else has anymore input that would be great.. i'm hoping to get a Navy Blue or Black on Tan 6MT.

Personally, I would be careful getting a car that was leased. The owners of the car seem to treat them as badly as they would a rental car (if you have ever rented a car, you know what i mean).

Always make sure to get the car checked out by a certified non-biased mechanic (from a contending dealership or independent shop). Good luck!

I agree. Automobiles are sent to auction that dealers want no part of. Dealers do not need angry used car customers returning to scream in their showroom. Its bad for business. Where did all the flooded Katrina cars go?To the auction waiting for suckers trying to get a good deal. Others have beat the crap out of coupes.

In my opinion, either get a new one or a lower priced Altima until you can afford a G. Why look for someone elses problems?

I have a 03 6MT and also agree wit Kendrik, Brembos is what really brings out the G35 looks and braking performance. But an 03 has a few problems so get an 04 and do what Kendrik told you like the headlights and etc. I upgraded to 07 rims, 06 projectors, and 06 console, and still have the BREMBOS!
