A billion? Sweet! We could create all kinds of bureaucracies and blow it all in 3 months, then complain to congress that we need more money.

The Department of Drifting sounds like fun!

Hopefully I'm not Greg #2 anymore... because if I was on ANY ticket with Dean (who, unlike me, is NOT a native to the great state of Vermont and in no way represents our way of life), I'd have to check myself into some kind of in-patient therapy.

Strangest thing about that shifty self-serving freak, when he was "our" Governor he was a very fiscally/morally/politically CONSERVATIVE democrat. When he decided to run for national office he suddenly decided to take a hard-line, liberal, anti-war, extremist political position. Even stranger, once Kerry saw it working for Dean... he thought it would be a great position too!

But anyway... as long as we can keep Dean off the ticket... the pimpcakes thing sounds good... even if I am not Greg #2.

Complain loud enough and contribute heavily to my re-election fund and I'm sure we could work something out

Just curious if anyone else watched the psudo debate between the Green party candidate and Badnarik the Libertarian candidate. It was on Fox or PBS that night. Badnarik impressed me he actually sounded like he knew what he was talking about and wnet into some detail about his financial and foreing policies and plans. I think I will vote for him, gotta be better than the other 2. I thought the Green Party candidate, don't remember his name, was a little unrealistic but what do I know.

i would bet that if all of us on this site actually listened to the Libertarian platform,,,,,,,you would agree with, at least, 95% of what they stood for! unfortuanatly, we have all been brainwashed into believing we live in a two party system! until about 30/40 years ago, there was always more than 2 parties to choose from for president. as it is now,,,,we get, pretty much, the same thing. both parties the same (difference abortion or prayer in school,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,big deal!!!!!). do you really think that your taxes (i.e. less money out of your paycheck), will be lower with either kerry or bush?????? for me,,,it boils down to this,,,,,,let me spend the money i work hard to earn for myself,,,,,don't do it for me,,,,,,,and for issues like abortion, drugs, prostition,,etc,,,,could care less. it's there life. just don't ask me to spend my money to support it! true libertarian belief,,,,,fiscally conservative,,,morally liberal.

I can't make heads or tails out of your post... but I think you are touting the libertarian view on things. Kudos to your conviction and enthusiasm, but work on your delivery... it's annoying trying to read that mess.

You can download the debate between Michael Badnarik and David Cobb at Cornell University here:

http://www.q45.org/badnarik-cobb-debate.wmv

Badnarik was given a hearing by an Arizona judge. The Presidential Debates Commission has to show up and explain why Badnarik, who is on ballots in 48 states (the LP in the past has been on 50 but new legislation made it harder), is not allowed to participate in an election event that uses public funds.

Actually no...I HAVE looked at their platform. Some I agree with, some I do not. I agree with more of the Republican tenets than any other party (especially the moral ones )

Ya, that is a pretty good question that needs answered, especially since the debates are publically funded. You would think that all legitamate candidates would get a chance. I believe they mentioned the he was even expected to win one state, maybe Nevada but I'm not sure. They also discussed the voting where you include like your top 3 choices instead of just one choice, that way your vote isn't "wasted" on an unlikely candidate.

Well, this particular debate uses public funds. ASU is a state university, while Wash U was a private university. Corporate sponsors pick up some of the cost, but not all of it. Wash U paid for a lot, and so is ASU.

Badnarik's argument then, is since we're using tax dollars, it should be open. And over 55% polled say Badnarik should be allowed to participate.

No. Its a pretty good mix based on the people I've met. I first joined the LP after Clinton pissed me off. I dropped the Dems like a bad habit. Disgruntled Libertarians however tend to become light-Republicans. Congressman Ron Paul ran for president in 92 as a Libertarian, but now serves in the House of Representatives.

He also chairs the Republican Liberty Council, basically a group of Libertarian-Republicans who oppose moral conservatives and the religious right.

Here's the most interesting thing I've noticed about Nader. Democrats have been sending lawyers around the country out of fear that he'll steal their votes, but get this..

In public opinion polls where people are asked to choose between Bush and Kerry, then asked to choose among Bush, Kerry and Nader, Bush loses more support than Kerry.

The Nader voters, this year, seem to be the type who don't care for Bush, but see Kerry as a poor alternative.

yeah. just replace Nader for Badnarik; Bush for Kerry; and Kerry for Bush in your last sentence, and you get a slightly annoyed GOP.
