its all in the gearing ratios, not the number of gears. They have 6 speeds on the sentra V-Spec. It is rediculesly pointless.... that car doesnt need any more than a 5 speed.

Im telling you, the only point of have more gears would be if your power band was super peaky and you only have about 1000 out of 9000 revs to play with on the track. A V16 with quad turbos is going to spool pretty quick and have a fat power band, there is no need for a 7 speed transmission, all it does is multiply your chances of screwing up while shifting and subtract from the time that you have the throttle open.

It's a paddle shifted car. I'm sure it's just as efficiant as a ferrari paddle shifter, in which case would mean that it can shift 1-7 in the time it would take you shift 1-2 on a standard. I'm saying that under the precident that a ferrari paddle shifter can shift through 1-6 in the time it takes a person to shift 1-2 in a manual. Theoretically of coarse, but it's still helluva lot faster than stick shifting.

so u mean to tell me that a ferrari paddle shifter can shift 1-2-3-4-5-6 faster than a normal person can shift a stick 1-2?? i have my doubts on that one, they are indeed quick shifts ,but not that quick, im not expert or amazingly fast shifter, but i'd put money on myself that i could get from 1-2 before a ferrari could go from 1-2-3-4-5-6

Ferrari is just saying that the paddle shifter shifts rediculously fast. Before sombody goes to second might be an exaduratoin(sp?) though.

Meh. I if I hooked electrodes up to your nipples and bet that the car WOULDN'T catch your eye; you'd lose, and have some crisp nipples to match. I think its pretty cool, and whoever can afford to own one will earn a shoe-shine from me.-Kev

I personally hate the car.. its dosn't even look like a car.. more like a VW beetle after a hangover... The motor on the other hand isn't to bad.... but why have a 7spd when most of the time the car is gonna be stuck in 5th the whole time while your cruising.. anything above that you'll be getting pulled over for speeding...??? Just stick with the old school concept of the low profile looking NSX's and Ferrari looking body style....

Depending on the gear ratios, you might be able to get better gas milage out of the thing if you cruise in maybe 6th over 5th while going at a slower speed. Anyways, if any of you watched the videos from Bugatti's website, they said the MAXIMUM amount of time it would take for the car to shift is .2 seconds. I think thats pretty awesome.

I'm more interested in the engine than the car wrapped around it.

It's a W-16, not a V-16. It's two narrow-degree V-8's cooked together at the crankshaft. The crank must look like a work of art, I wish they had a shot of it. Can't even imagine the kind of development time that went into that thing, or the maintenance costs to keep it running.

I have heard scuttlebutt about other automakers (Caddy & DaimlerChrysler) looking into producing 16-cyl engines, but they were V-16s IIRC, big long honking blocks, not a compact W-16 like this one. A very interesting engine, if incredibly excessive.

It has 18.4 and 19.7 Bar listed as pressures at max HP and max TQ, respectively. That can't be boost...is that with atmosphere added in? What does that mean? 1.5 Bar is about 19 psi.
