Where does that SMIC go? The car in those pitures is using plastic pipe - I would think this would melt.

No. Boost temps are only about 250 degs. tops.

Plastic tends to melt more around 350 - 500 depending on your typical grade. Certain plastics can withstand more heat depending on composition.
