Does the 07' have the factory Bose system? Are you happy with the mid/highs...... does it have enough volume to make you happy? If so, then I would just add a subwoofer system. If you want a lot of really good bass output, then I would recommend the JL Audio stealth box. Unbelievable output and fits like a glove! I would run a 400-500 watt amplifier to it..... probably a Alpine PDX 600.

If you are not happy with the mid/highs, then you would probably want to change out the speakers and add a 4 channel amp for more and cleaner volume.

The Alpine W205 would be a good choice for your brothers car. Add the Black bird portable nav, which docks inside the W205, and you have nav on the W205 and a portable nav that you can use in any car. The whole package runs about $1500 or less. You can check it out here,

Thanks,

Toby

Feel free to call if you want to discuss in further detail!

toby quick question.I finally got around to wiring in the 9873 tonight.Everything was a breeze other then me having to remove the Active Speaker door speaker amps to get everything to work..

Anyways. in the s13 there's 2 wires from the dash illumination stuff. One is a constant 12 volts when you turn on the headlights, the other varies as you adjust the dimmer for the gauges.

I wasn't sure which one to hook up to the illumination wire from the stereo, i'm guessing the variable one but i thought i'd ask you. This is my first EVER car stereo install and i'd rather double check.

You need to hook it up to the wire that goes to 12Volts when you turn on the lights.

Do you have a budget in mind? That's usually the best way to go about it. You give me an amount you don't want to go over, and I will give you the best setup for that price. Otherwise it could be anywhere from $2500 to $10,000 or more. Let me know and I will email you a nice package price with everything you want. Keep in mind the screen with Nav is roughly $1400 alone.

Will do! I'll come up with a couple different packages and email them to you. I will be out of town for the next couple days, so it will be this weekend before I get back to you!

I don't have any screens on super special this month, so you are looking at about $859 shipped. Retail is $1099. That is for the Alpine 205 or the 105. The 205 is a double DIN and the 105 is a single DIN. They are almost exact in features..... touch screen, DVD, I-pod, XM/Sirius etc. Let me know if you want any more info on them!

I have your package prices all set for you.... I will email them to you when I get home tonight. Also, all of the Alpine screens play DVD's. None of the Alpine screens "come" with Navigation. Navigation is a add on for all of the screens. The W205 just happens to be able to dock the Blackbird behind it's fold down screen, giving you full Navigation on the W205 and the ability to take the portable Blackbird into any other vehicle as a stand alone unit. But you don't have to buy it if you don't want Nav. As far as a changer, you can get a 6 disc that could mount in the compartment behind the passenger seat.

What kind of budget are you on? If you are on a small budget, I would simply choose from the Alpine HU's and JL Audio speakers I have on sale right now. You really need to decide on a budget though. I can sell you a $1200 set of Boston Acoustic components that sound wonderful, but I'm sure you are not down for that!?!

I will set you up with a package tomorrow and get back to you. Probably a Viper 350HV and a couple actuators, relays and extra wiring.

Take Care,

Toby

Did you take a look at my for sale goodies? For around $375 shipped you can do the Alpine 9873 and 2 sets of JL TR coax's. Will sound really good for a budget price!

You are looking at $179 shipped for everything you need. That would be a Viper 350HV, 2 actuators, relays, any extra wiring or little parts you may need and free tech support

You just need to call me if you want to set something up. You can bring your car up for the alarm install, then leave the column with me to mold in the VSD. I could then just ship you the piece when I was done.

hey broadfield, i know your pretty much the interior king but i came across a gauge setup that seems rather interesting.............perhaps you could enlighten me as to how someone could pull this off? is it simply just actuators/motors attached to the moving parts that are wired into the ignition?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRx7R8KwX_8

i figured it would peak your interest since you are the DIY type.............

edit: one other quick question, since you are an electronics shop do you carry radar detectors? specifically any beltronics?

Yeah, that's a really nice setup. That would be a very difficult project for your average installer. I would of chosen a slower motion, but very nicely done. I don't think I could of pulled it off any nicer. That obviously was all done with the dashboard out of the car. The area up top was reconstructed and looks like the entire dash was recovered.... about the only way to pull that off. SImple use of motors and actuators..... it's the linkage is where it gets difficult.

I do carry radar detectors...... Escort and K-40. Hope that helps!
