So it has been 25k since I turned my rotors and I want to turn them at least. Are there Brembos available for the 97' Q45 and is it worth it? Should I do all 4 or just the fronts?

Thx in advance.

Yes there are Stillen Brembo rotors in OEM size. I have them on the front of one of my G50 and am very pleased with them.

They are drilled, so all four would look nicer. Might dissipate the heat more uniformly.

Drilled rotors crack and are dangerous.

Get Brembo undrilled replacement rotors from your friendly local parts house, or the internet.

Just do the fronts, the rears almost never wear out!

TireRack has Brembo OE replacement front rotors for $35 each. That's what I'm getting within the month.

If you aren't going to "upgrade" to a rotor with more mass (larger/thicker), than OEM or a "quality" replacement part make the most sense.

Drilled rotors are more prone to cracking, slotted rotors are much better. According to Brembo's own literature, their drilled rotors are suitable for aggressive street driving, NO TRACK USE, while thier slotted rotors are suitable for aggressive street driving, AND track use. I had the slotted Brembo's on my last car and loved them, but I'm gonna get standard OE Brembo's for this car.

Depends how they are drilled and if they are chamfered. For all the drilled roteors you see on highend Porsches and Ferraris, you will notice you son't see them on F1 and other top line racing cars.

For street, they can be advantageous in the rain. Joe weighed the Brembo Stillen and found they were a couple of pounds heavier than stock. I have them on two cars (KVR on the other), and couldn't be happier compared to OEM.

Q45tech runs a different rotor (Powerstop?) and there is another out there DiamondJ runs, whose name escapes me now.

I think I will follow Faulks lead for 35 each that sounds good.

Thanks all.

All depends on the chemical composition of the gray iron used to cast the rotor blank. Each steel mill is different and each have different grades.

Brembo moved blank production from Italy to Poland to lower costs.

The quality and amount of post treatment.

Really depends on how each batch is alloyed................only the factory [Nissan] has any specific standards for the Q...........no aftermarket does individual on car testing other than ===== will the rotor fit.

I'll aslo chime in on that point.

Better sometimes lighter aluminum brakes. 4 piston. Endless choices for brake pads......(literally, endless makes some too!), and cheaper more abundant rotor choices. I think Baer even makes rotors for 300z.

I remember doing a 13" Cobra rotor upgrade on my 2002 maxima, using Z32 calipers. Using Baer Eradispeed 2 peice rotors....

What is the advantage of the Z32 rotors over say the Brembos or the stock Q's?

Not sure the size of a q45 rotor or the thickness. But the 300zx (z32) brake CONVERSION, will let you run the 4 piston calipers, instead of the 2 piston on the q45. Im sure the 300zx brake rotors are a bit thicker, due to them having to cram a big powerful brake kit for a super car into a space with a 15" wheel.

The 300zx brake rotors were quite thicker than my 2002 maxima ones.

theyre thicker, 2x the clamping torque, 100s of brake pad options, 100s of rotor options, and all of this is about half the rpice of the Q brakes.

So what is involved if I want to do the Z32 brakes? do I just replace the rotors? Can I use stock Q brake pads? What other parts do I need, not sure I want to replace calipers at this point.

I have drilled/slotted rotors all the way around on my 97. I use stock pads and run my brakes pretty hard. I have never had any problems with them and noticed shorter stopping distances and quicker cooling times when installed.

Actually they are Ebay Specials! I have actually been surprised by how well they have worked. They show no signs of warping or cracking and zinc plating keeps them from rusting.

Drilled / slotted with stock pads should show no increase in stopping distance whatsoever. The only area that may improve is fade as the slotted / drilled rotors have better cooling, out-gassing and pad cleaning ability.

The largest improvement in a brake system is from pads, not rotors and high heat fluid such as Motul RBF600 (600 degree boiling temp.).

Found out yesterday my mechanic can get me Brembo blanks for 33 bucks each! That's awesome!!!! Cheaper than Tire Rack and no shipping. I'm going to use the new Wagner ceramic pads he's recommending, the plates are pre-bonded to the pads, and he has had no returns with these pads. I'll flush the brakes with Dot 5 Valvoline, I don't really see a need to go with Motul in this car. I'm draining the Redline oil that's been in since Feb (changed Amsoil filter half way through) and going back to Amsoil, and I'm going to flush the PS system this Saturday.

I agree with you kevin... synthetic valvoline stuff is good enough and youll be fine as long as you flush it every so often (with speed bleeders this is easy)

While we ar on the subject, I need new front pads. Rotors are fine. The only thing I am worried about is squeeling. I don't care if I have to replace them every 10,000 miles, I DON'T WANT ANY SQUEEKS OR SQUEELING!! What pads should I buy?

OEM U93 front series as opposed to louder U91 series[U85 are the only oem rear pad] are the quietest and they still last 25,000 miles plus!
