For people with the brakemotive kit, Did you use the pads that came with it? I've installed mine almost a year ago (9-10k miles), and recently My brakes have been squeaking when Im stopping. Really annoying sound to me.

I still like it, and yes, I used the supplied pads.

Just put the new ones on.
A quick tip is that the rear rotors have the e brake drum on the inside that we didn't know about. After about 2 minutes of banging on it with a hammer I finally noticed the rubber grommet and after removing it you can see the small drum brakes inside. We took off the e brake and the rear rotors came right off. Haha

Also the caliper bolts were way way too tight. Someone was using a air gun on them or something.

I have had mine installed now for about three weeks. Still way early, but very happy, just as others have said. Much smoother on the slow speeds, as well as from highway speeds. Thanks for the tip, whoever started it!

And yeah, the assembly was quite tuff to get started for initial removal....

Almost 6k miles on the kit, so far awesome :bigthumb:

No rusting
No squealing/whooshing/whirring
Stops true
Look pretty boss to me esp compared to OEMs
Very pleasantly surprised especially considering low, low price

Hello every one,

I read through this thread and read nothing but good things about the brake motive ebay kit which is very surprising like a few of you mentioned the price of the kit for the M35 being a luxury car makes me skeptical as well, that being said how is the kit now since it's been 4 years since some one chimed in about it and actually I can't find the brake motive kit on ebay no more for our cars, can some one give me and advise on what to do/buy as I'm the market for a full brake job including Ebrake shoes. Please let me know and the help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yep Brakemotive best bang for your buck, most of us are still using them and they work great. Looks like they are sold out, I can't find the kit (front + reard & pads) on ebay, I was only able to find front or rear separate. Try researching the seller "brakemotive76" on Ebay and ask. Another member, I believe Freddie is using Black Harts, same as Brakemotive but all black.

most rotors these days are all made over seas due to their mas production. There are a few brands that are "made in house" but that is only the drilling or slotting portion, using blanks from overseas. I am still debating what to go with since they finally have a set for the g37s bbk.

I'm ready to replace mine again and have been very satisfied with the Brakemotive brakes, but can't find them using their search tool for our cars. I sent an email a week ago - no reply. I finally called them and they are out of stock and won't be back in stock for a month or two.

I too have been looking to buy the kit with the rotors and pads. I spoke to Brakemotive's customer service and they mentioned 2-3 weeks out from being restocked. So 1-2 months is prob a timeframe I can't afford.

Anyone have any opinions on the rotors from FCP Imports? Also any opinions on the Akebono ceramic pads to pair up with the FCP rotors would be helpful.

I can tell you my first kit lasted 45k miles.
My M is my daily driver: about 20 miles one way - mostly highway.
I do some spirited braking every now and then.

I only needed to replace my front pads too, rears were still good and rotors definitely had good life left in them as well.
But I changed everything out, because I painted the rotor hats and the calipers too and the whole kit was so damn cheap.

A group buy for the brake motive kit? Not happening. Unless that vendor decides to join this forum. There is simply no way to setup a group buy via eBay.

<shakes head up and down> Ilya is correct. If there WAS a way to do a group buy outside of Ebay, Freddie would have already set it up, LOL. I'm told that brakemotive sets for our M's are temp out-of-tock, but someone else (Freddie?) in this thread got the Hart brand set and seems quite happy with them. Wangtang posted the Hart link in this thread. I say either wait a bit for brakemotive to become available, or go with Hart.

*Paging Freddie into thread*

Can Freddie (I don't know who Freddie is) please provide us feedback on the Black Hart's on eBay? Thank you in advance.

I should have posted earlier, but I called Brakemotive on Wednesday, May 7th and they said that our brake kit is in stock but not yet listed on eBay. HOWEVER, they have upped the price on the kit to $198. I wanted to paint my rotor hats black on the Brakemotive kit, but with this price increase and the Black Hart's only being $215, I'll probably go with them because the $17 is not worth the time or hassle. There is also a black kit on eBay called Imego from maxautopart who has more reviews and a slightly higher seller rating than Black Hart's, plus a lower price of $198. I'm tempted to try them out, but I'd like some feedback first.

Hey guys, just looked for the set of 4 brakemotive rotors and pads on ebay, and great news, they re-stocked. Even better news is they are only $178 for Memorial Day weekend. Just ordered a set. Link below. Happy braking!

Did someone page me :spitout:

Larz is on the money, I spoke to both brakemotive & Harts about 3 weeks ago and was told that they had no further room for discounts. The number one reason was shipping cost.

No way to do a group buy with these companies, ebay price is what it will be.

I'm using Black Hart rotors with ThermoQuiet ceramic pads and so far very happy with them, I always like having black brakes & calipers because it doesn't take anything away from the wheels.

I have ordered 4 sets of Black Harts which 2 of them should be here mid this week, I may be ordering more very soon.

2006 thru 2010 use the same rotors & pads.

If ebay ads states they don't fit it's because the listing is for the 2003 to 2004 M45 (WHICH ARE DIFFERENT). :yesnod

Yes, they will fit an 08m45s!!! That was my last car, plus all M's use the same brake system unlike the G37 which have two versions, the "s" and the base!!

Hello everyone,

So I got this kit installed and now my steering wheel shakes under heavy breaking over 75mph. Does any one have this problem, is my rotors warped. It's only been 6 months and I don't drive that much, brakes also seem to get hot? Any advise/input is appreciated.

Got EBD 3GD series rotors all around with EBC Red Stuff pads all around...kept the original shoes in the parking brake as they just needed adjustment a tad bit....2004 with 92k miles.....nearing 300 miles with the new hardware as its not my daily driver but WOW!! Should have came stock with it....

My rear rotors were getting warped with squeals and so it was time...$500 out the door with a 2 hour labor cost at a buddy's shop for $100.....Time shall tell now how they go but WHAT A DIFFERENCE as getting down from triple digit speeds down to legal limits is that much better & surefooted!! Had used CAR ID for parts...

When it was time for me to change my brakes, I went ahead and ordered the G37S brake upgrade for all 4 corners, WOW! What a difference it made! I installed everything myself so I saved some money on labor. I'd recommend to go this route if one can afford it.
