Just wondering what you guys are running and any review of them as well. I am considering a HKS SSQ myself. Any comments?

Both a Greddy Type R and old school blitz super sound (The expensive one you see on ebay in the CA18 section).

Well other than the Type R (which I will have no reason for getting as the spring will be way too stiff for my needs) what do you think I should get? I don't want a used BOV if I don't have to, and I would like a little twitter here and there ;)

I have to agree with Dee on this. One of my good friends ran an HKS SS and it ended up being responsible for a MASSIVE boost leak we never could find. Changed out the upper intercooler pipe and suddenly all the car's funky problems were gone.

there was this HKS monster BOV on my car when I got it, the thing looks like it was made for semi's I call it the fire hydrant, you don't need a monstrous BOV, and the louder it is, the longer it takes for it to purge because you have to force it out through a smaller hole to make that noise, which means its not purging the air fast enough = bad for turbo and for performance

Other than stock recirculating (not blow off) valve, as far as BOVs go what is a quiet, fast operating BOV ? Quiet of course being a relative term.. I'd rather (as Notchbackca pointed out) have it to its job quickly, and on top of that the more subtle I can be the better (it'll never be truely subtle..)

The Trust Type S is very responsive. It's basically a downscale version of the Type R, very well constructed.

I thought it was impossible for the SSQV to leak. Boost keeps it shut. Only pressure alterations make it "blow-off".

I was thinking about that Joe. The only reason it should leak is if the seal is bad, which shouldn't happen on a new one, or if you don't have it hooked up/adjusted right, which isn't the valves fault.

I kinda like the DSM BOV I have and I plan to keep it for a while longer, especially since its good for up to 22 psi. Its not very loud either and gets the job done.

nuff said....

i got a Turbo XS Type H currently but that piston type valve cant hold the kind of boost i want to run, i have already stretched the spring and added all the washers in the kit, and it was leaking sometimes at 14psi boost. it is rated up to i think 19psi or something.

Quote »Early Blitz supersound and Trust type R[/quote] A man that shares the flavor for serious pieces such as me. Do you have them working together? I do and the sound nasty/loud; and 20psi of boost, they both hold steadily and blow-off like with a distinctive Psheeeew type sound which is evident of two blow0ff valves. I've seen new SSQVs leak and even the turboXS thinga-majiggies as well. The old school rulez!
