Bought Slim Xentec HID

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Those kits look good, I'm thinking of getting one on my EX35, does brand matter? All made in china anyways? 6000K or 8000K

Welcome to NICO, toussi1!!

I think people were preferring 6000K (I have the stock Xenon setup, myself).

Cheers,David

Yes, most HID kit (90%) came from China and rebranded when hit our shore.

I ordered my HID kit from JIM Powell who owns this hid website.

http://ddmtuning.com/hidkihidbuhi.html

They have tons of HID orders that shipping is a little slow. Around a week

from Calif. to Wis. (UPS ground). But they backed their lifetime warranty

well. If you have a burned bulb, they will replace both inorder to match the

color. Pricing is very cheap too... If you want to check out their reputation,

try reading the BMW forum. Jim and the crew post there all the time for

questions and support...

If you want stock 35W ballast 6000k is good.

If you want more light down the road 55W ballast will do but at 8000K.

From what I understand 55W ballast on 8000K will have the same color as

35W 6000K but with more lumens.

I finally installed my 2 hid kits today 1 for fog H8 and 1 for H11 LOW .

Actually I paid someone to install it since it`s cold here.

It was a pain removing the wheel well cover (10+ clips). Did I say we had

to remove the front tires too. This is the best way to do it if you don`t

want to drill hole on the rear cover of the headlight assembly. There is a

very small hole under the headlight assembly where you can run wires and

hid from the back cover down to that small hole. We had a lot of problem

with the KIT I bought bec. I bought 2 separate relay harness to connect it

directly to the battery. One relay harness was bad and the other

connector was switched. But over all it worked fine connecting the low

beam to the relay harness and fog DIRECTLY to the stock OEM H8. 6000K

seems to be the best color. Very white with hint of blue. My fog is 3500K

The stock BULB projector seems to be designed for HID bec. the light cutoff

is VERY NICE.

It`s a night and day difference from stock anemic bulb to the HID.

Yeah, please post pics if possible (and any other hints/suggestions/obstacles), as I'm seriously considering doing the same thing.

Cheers!

If you have a plug and play KIT and connecting it directly to the OEM stock

H8 wire harness, this is really a very quick installation (10minutes).

You`ll spend more time removing clips on the wheel well and that little

airfoil screws (That thing that sticks out like a mini splash guard

underneath the car). I would suggest buying a good relay harness too, if

you are that guy who likes to turn the fog lights on all the time.

Our EX35 foglights are the easiest to put on since it is not covered by

anything at all. Once wheel well cover is removed, you`ll be able to see

the back of the bulb connector with huge space around it. One member

here noted that during HID Ballast placement, you have to place

it away from the bumper sensor to avoid false beeping....There is a good

space under the lowbeam headlight housing and use a lot of zip tie. We

actually didn`t use that tape that comes with the ballast kit.

FYI: If you have a blown headlight fuse, I know where the hell that fuse

box is. Infiniti manual didn`t show where it is 8 -20 . There are 3 fuse

boxes location for the EX35, but the manual only tells us 2 boxes. One in

driver side kick panel, 2nd one in front of the battery, 3rd one is that black

box next to the battery fender side. You don`t have to remove the

battery, but you have to remove that thing that covers the battery top and

side. Also, I`m not sure if our stereo has code ? Is it true that when we

remove the negative battery cable and reset the radio, we have to call

INFINITI for code and pay them for small fee? The installer used a

different ground instead for my wire harness.

This is my first Infiniti and I find it a lot harder to install simple things like

BULBs. Even the rear wiper doesn`t have instruction on how to remove it?

That license plate bulb is also hard to replace, I have a wedge LED and

couldn`t install it there either.

BTW: It was very foggy last night here in WI, snow and ice are thawing

about 50F . I went home using the LOWBEAM HID 6000K, this thing is

bright and seems like I don`t need a fog lights at all bec. it cuts thru the

fog way better than my stock LOWBEAM with stock foglights on at the

same time. I haven`t tried the HID Yellow FOG that I have since, our ex

fog has a reflector type. I will only use it if needed since cops here will

definitely hasn`t seen one like this yet.

car is looking really good. those lights are looking really bright. do you have any shots from the front? i am also considering doing the 3500K fogs. also, i would check on that cut off line. it does look like its to straight and not the typical z shaped pattern.

I showed it to the guy on the HID PLANET FORUM and said it`s very good

cutoff. I think they put some shield or a stock HID projector has a biult in

shield that causes that Z cutoff. I `m not sure if we have that on the stock

non HID projector.

I think warranty would be voided.
bokingwen wrote:I think i am going to put one in my EX too. I have a few questions:

1. one of you mentioned that the relay harness might not be long enough. So for those who have installed the harness can you verfity if the relay harness is long enought?

2. Will the HID Kits void the warrentry?

3. The sales manager I bought my EX from he is offering to have their guys to install the kit for me. Quote from him "this way I can make sure you dont void the warrenty." I have installed HID on my xterra it is very simple so I just want to know if the sales manger just want to get my $ or something.

4. After the HID is in do you need to adjust the light (up or down), because after I installed HID into my xterra it was shoot too high. According to the user manual in order to adjust the height you need to bring it back to the dealer??

5. I am planning to change the fog light bub to some PIAA bub, will it be too hot or something to burn out the wires?

6. Most importanly the bub size on the EX 35 is H11, right? I am going to order from retro-solution.

I'm not sure about the EX'S in the states with stereo programming but I disconnected the battery had no serious issues (stereo code). Just keep in mind you will have to reset minor functions such as your memory seats and radio.

How could warranty be voided. You aren't cutting anything or modifying anything. The warranty on the halogens would be voided, but those are gone anyway. The power is coming direct from battery, and you are connecting the headlamp switch interface to the ballast with the existing connector. So I don't see how anything can be voided.

Car manufacturers are only legally allowed to void a warranty if there is proven interference between the device you add and a particular component of the car. There is no way this can do that.
