I have a 2013 M56 with the 5.1 Bose. I cannot find specs for it anywhere, Does anyone know how many watts this is?

Infinit/Bose didn't release specs for this car but it's probably in the 350w range.

Q. Can I get a list of technical specifications?
A. No, because our custom-engineered, complete system solutions largely supersede conventional audio measurements. Even some basic building blocks have been redefined—including amplifiers, speakers and equalizers. But most importantly, our integrated systems deliver results significantly different from those of conventional systems with individual, unmatched components. With a Bose automotive sound system, the location and design of the speakers can be much more important factors in determining output than a wattage power rating. The bottom line? The best way to test a Bose system's sound quality is to use your ears, not a list of specifications.

Hmm, Smoke and mirrors comes to mind. :bs:

Funny thing is they give the wattage on the other luxury car websites. on the Porsche website Bose offers a system in the Panamera for 710 watts

To the Infiniti response: That is correct. The best way to determine how a system sounds is to listen to it. Beyond that is the physics of sound waves and THAT is the part they won't speak about ... and there is a good reason: It is a 'middle ground' system with extra speakers and low watts.
I say, if they can't or won't post the watts it's because it falls short of most other luxury cars. Otherwise, they would proudly list it on the window sticker like everyone else who DOES have an impressive system. Mind you, I like my 5.1 surround, but I am keenly aware that even Hyundai has a more powerful system.

The Bose answer is right, but I agree it sounds like they won't answer because they're hiding something. Too many people do get hung up on Watts, and that's why there's an entire car audio industry with tons of posers showing fake wattage amounts in order to boost sales. I think the speakers are a bigger shame in the M than the amp power. All power does is make it louder. It can't necessarily take something bad and make it sound good.

Good point. I remember from my stereo head days that frequency response, S/N ratio, etc are equally important as speaker quality. Usually though, a system with good marks in the above criteria will also have higher quality speakers than our Ms. Another reason I believe they use a well branded name, but do not fully use the potential that Bose can offer for our cars. Lots of cars in our league offer Bowers & Wilkins, Meridian, Harmon Kardon, Lexicon, etc. Audi even goes far as to offer B&O like the RR Ghost! Yet our Infiniti's have had the same Bose system for 10 years - probably with no major upgrade during those years.
