Here's my issue with B&N, their selection is meh at best, they are severely over priced, their employees would rather ignore you than help you and they have a Starbucks which brings in a predominately stuck up crowd. Plus their music/dvd selection is crap. Borders on the other hand has always had a much better inventory, their employees (while mildly brainless) were more about helping you find that rare hard to find book and the cashiers always made sure to ask if you found everything ok, followed by a sales pitch for their rewards card, and the coffee area wasn't as pretentious. I can walk into a borders and walk out with a couple of things, I walk into a B&N and walk out with nothing. As far as Amazon goes, they are great and all, but frankly I still prefer to walk into a real store to make my purchases, something about physically being able to hold it and look at it before I open my wallet is more appealing to me. Not to mention Borders has always excelled in the Manga and Graphic Novel department. You go into a B&N and ask about them and they generally look at you like you have 3 heads and are to stupid to read a real book.
