Anyone know anything about this and whether or not boostdesigns.com has a good track record. Plus if I did this does anyone know if I will be able to pass inspection in TX. The kit looks strong, stage 2 at 12 psi made 301 hp.

Welcome to the KA-T board, Gellis.

In short, NO, boost designs does NOT have a good track record whatsoever. We recently dropped them as a sponsor due to extremely bad customer service and some shadyness with their products. Note this thread: zerothread?id=119337 Not to mention that enthalpy (who makes the Enthalpy ECUs) stopped using Boost Designs for the same reason: so the stage 2 kit is no longer available in that form anyways.

We have a new sponsor though, IAP , who will do a much better job with hooking you up.

I purchased the BoostDesigns long block a couple weeks before the merger with ATR. But then the merger was announced and as a result, things got delayed and delayed......and delayed...

So, BoostDesigns agreed to give the disassembled long block to Mike Sims at Top Hat Performance, which is outside of the ATL in Conyers, GA:http://www.tophatperformance.com

Mike and his guys finished all of the machine work and completed the rebuild and is in the process of buttoning everything back up:

Top Hat can not only rebuild your KA, they also offer KA24DET crate motors...not long blocks, but full KA-T crate motors, ready to rock. I'm glad that I ended up crossing paths with Mike, Scott, and Tim at Top Hat Performance (thanks to PJ) because they have been the utmost of professionals and have done everything in their power to make sure that I am a satisfied customer...and Top Hat's pricing is reasonable to boot. I highly recommend that anyone thinking about a KA rebuild or is in the market for a KA-T crate motor to at least give Mike a call. You'll be glad you did.
