American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Great work of modern day fiction. It is especially good
If u have some knowledge of folk lore and myth but just as good of read
If you don't.

Just finished it yesterday. I read 200 pages the day I got it and put it down.
I didnt want to finish it too quickly. Great book and probably one of the best
Modern era fiction novels I have read.

Just bought that one. Great for casual magazine-style reading. The story flows logically and his writing style is pretty basic, so I catch a few pages on my Blackberry once in a while.

I enjoy his sense of humor.

decided to pick up a book for a switch last year, in the height of my boredom, and ive enjoyed it. typically knock out 3-5 chapters an evening or two a week, so they last me awhile.

all ive got under my belt. hat. whatever, so far is a clockwork orange, which was good havin never seen the movie, and half of fight club, which im really into, but had i not seen the movie a million times, would probably like much more.

looking to pick up fear & loathing next. these kinda dark satire type reads seem to be my thing, but im sure theres other stuff i have no idea id like lol. any good recommendations. maybe something off the radar that hasnt been made ito a movie?

Wait, what?!? Fight Club is a book?!?!?!?
Yes. It was a book first. Rant is just as good if not better and more of a mindf*** than fight club. All time favorite book. Anything by Chuck Palahniuk will not dissappoint. Read Rant first though.

Awesome. Some good stuff so far guys. I think I should have plenty to read for the next few weeks.

I actually just bought the Zombie Survival Guide. It's pretty good, but it's also clear that Brooks is not an expert on bladed weapons or firearms. So I'll take my own advice on those subjects.

It's k. You don't know me well enough to have figured it out. Books are almost always better than their movie counterparts.

Also found the pair of books by Sam Harris intriguing. Though they may not be good reads for the super-religious.

Rock on!

I have "Shift" in paperback. Bought it and "Turn Around" a few years ago for a paper I wrote on Nissan in an English class. That was back before I realized Ghosn was going to take a dump all over my favorite Nissan models, though. :squint:

Tales of the Otori is the name of a trilogy and that's the first book in it. :poke:

If you can find them, I recommend anything from Anne McCaffrey.

It's kinda old stuff, but there's a lot of them to work through... (if you like sci-fi/fantasy books) She has more then three different series of books out!

Check out the Bas Lag trilogy by China Mieville:

"Perdido Street Station"
"The Scar"
"Iron Council"

I also recommend anything by David Sedaris ("Me Talk Pretty One Day" is particularly full of win). Also echo the Stieg Larsson books "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", "Girl Who Played With Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest".
