Hi, im new to the 240 community and i had a little problem with my car is a 93 240sx, the car bogs or hesitates under acceleration, like any gear, mostly low end, under acceleration it sputters and then goes back to normal, and it would sputter again ... I already changed the plugs and the wires, i noticed that my plugs are whitish, not black, seems to be running lean. I have searched and i have posted in like 3 or 4 different forums but no one seems to want help. Why do people get mad or complaint when newbies ask questions in forums that they have searched for, aren't we always told to SEARCH. Please give me some opinions or cooments here, not trying to get on anyone's bad side, just need help. Thanks in advance.

My car just started doing the same thing, feals like its not firing on one cyl. just replaced plugs and air filter "air filter caus needed it anyway". tomarrow im going to do compression test and check timing. not to mention cap rotor and plug wires. just replaced fuel filter 3 weeks ago. if that doest work im going to take out my injectors and clean them.

any other ideas?

just thought id share my plans as it seems we are having the same problem "sounds like"

yeah i was thinking of doing the compression test and well i dont know what else to do , i disconnected the EGR today and it worked good for a while and then it got back to bogging and yeah it felt a bit richer, like more bog. Also it seems that when is cold it works fine, stronger... Im just gonna take it to a mechanic see if they could check the timing or i don't know! this is just frustrating. Thanks for your help anyways.

my car did the same thing, it happened right after i got gas...but i dont think thats it.

I took it to an auto electric shop, they said it was the ECU, so i replaced it, it no longer died BUT it did stutter in the way described here. I replaced the cap/rotor, plugs, and ECU...i dunno where to go from here, could be the pump.

if temp effects it check your CTS connection for corrosion and the sensor it self

things are getting too hot in the cylinder so there is probably an issue with the air fuel mixture obviously.

Check the MAF carefullyCheck your TPS <--unsureCheck your O2 sensor though it can only correct the AF so muchEGR is good if it worksCheck fuel filter and pressureWere all of your plugs white?Coolant temp. sensor.

You will save yourself alot of time if you can find a CONSULT to hook her up to. Good luck!!

That's funny, mine does the opposite. It boggs like a mad man when cold, but once I let it warm up for 3 or 4 min it works great. I'm checking the fuel pressure behind the filter tomorrow. I may just go ahead and change that while I'm at it.

my car is doing the exact same thing as YomnyM's car... I replaced the fuel pump, distributor cap, the distributor, and the plugs and wires and it still does the same thing. Im gonna be getting another 240 for $300 and see how it runs and if it runs good then im yankin it and putting it in my car.. i'm just tired of messing with it

i replaced the fuel filter today and seems to be doing the same thing, today coming from work, i didn't warm up the car before leaving and it worked perfectly, ran pretty strong, still couldn't chirp second gear, but it was much better, also yeah i have noticed that my spark plugs are white, looks lean and thoughts

Where's the coolant Temp sensor? Thank you

CTS= Coolant Temp Sensor there was a thread i gave the specs cant recall which one it was sorry. If the car runs better either one way or the other with temp change the coolant temp operation should definitly be looked at to see if it might be at fault. I will try to find that thread too. in the mean time check it to see if green crusty **** is growin in it.

thanks alot for your help, im going to find that CTS and change it, since today the car ran really good after sitting for hours, once it starts getting hot it starts the fouling.

test it first dont just assume thats your prob. could have something else going on causing it to lean out the mixture too. your o2 could be leaning it out too
