haha, thinkin the same thing, also, ZENKI13, that is one hell of a collection of Qs u have there, it seems everyone here praises the 1st gen Q more than any other, is it really hta tmuch faster, i figure since she had 278hp then and the new ones have 34o, the o2 would have much more punch, and of course its heavier, but not by 7ohp, whats your fave?

Last I heard, they're supposed to be available in 2004 or 2005.

Well, I must say that that is a nice looking car and will turn a few heads. The styling reminds me somewhat of the G35, but 500 hp really sets it apart. I don't care much for that maroon interior though.

Finally! A Chris Cagle design that I like!!!!!!! If only the rear was a true fastback without that distracting trunklid.

Did I say distracting? I meant morbidly disgusting.

Well thats not the m6 actually thats the 645ci. Will be priced around 50-55k i think. Not sure what the m6 will look like in comparison...a few different changes most likely. The 645ci is available spring of '04.

Chris Bangle is the head of design for BMW.

It harks back to the original CS and 6 series design and foregoes most of the excess bulk of the 8 series. The premium coupes have never been fastback designs.

Personally I like the 92 because it just seems sportier. When in perfect working order I believe it is really well over 300 horses. The engine roars when you punch the gas. The 02 stays quiet. I like my ride being quiet, but i also like to hear the engine when i get on it. Right now the 92 is out of commision. I have a problem with my ABS and I still need to replace my chain guides.

The V10 5 series upgrade of the current E39 M5 will still be called M5, the 6 series you guys are hearing about is the new coupe. If you guys are interested in either go to either http://www.bimmer.org or http://www.bmwm5.com I bought a 2001 M5 for msrp and sold it for 5k less after 2 years and 20k miles. How expensive the car is is only relative to the difference between how much you buy it for and how much you sell it for. you guys may find this surprising from a Viper owner but I hated the M5 in the DC beltway area where I live, that car has the worst clutch ever devised by man, the engagement point is 1/2 inch off the floor, extremely hard to drive smoothly. Lots of dieseling noise from the Vanos system, big whine from the rear diff. First gear so short you are always hitting the limiter......and oh yes...BMW dealers, after Lexus and Infiniti I was spoiled...brought the M5 in for it's first service at 5k and they bring around a 1996 2 door bottom of the line loaner with 78k miles on it and holes in the console where the power window switches were supposed to be...that was it, I drove the m5 until the opportune window to sell and I will be doing Infinitis again for quite a while for my sedan and suv needs. I mentioned it before but it bears repeating, the M5 is a fast car but from about a 60-70 roll up to 120 or so the Gen 1 Q will stay right with it and it feels much the same, take it from someone who owned both at the same time. I'm a lot happier in traffic in the old Q too. Now bring on the new 2005 M45 with a little more horsepower, that's what I'm waiting for next spring hopefully.

so basically the motor sounds more muscular and this is everyones reason for the liking of hte first Q, i hear hte first Qs are the top end mosters

Regardless, look at that hideous trunklid. Jesus christ, did they yank that off a Deville and bolt it on?

Ryan,Looking at the design of the car the butt needs to be wiped and drawn again. It already has turn my head not up and down but right and left. 500hp or not, appearence still is important to me.Kev...

Look again. All Premium BMW Coupes have trunks.

As to the Chris Bangle boot designs, love them or hate them, they are space and aerodynamically efficient, and distinct. Like the M45, they work a lot better live than as an image.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t

Looks like we all agree that Infiniti has done the right thing with the G35. Now what the line needs is a mid size super sedan-to compete with the M5, A6S, E55, Jag SR, etc. This is an important niche for the image of the lineup.

By the way Q45Viper, you are truly a lover of performance cars to take an M5 out of your neighborhood in metro DC. We have just moved to San Francisco area, and my wife actually drives her 911 to work. In Maryland she insisted on driving the Q on weekdays!

The 840 was an 8 cylinder and the 850 had the V-12.

and Brian is right they are not fast back. They do have trunks.

fxjackso, you're right, that's the other reason it's gone, I worried too much about it, it was an investment grade car that was only going to be kept till near 20,000 miles, so every little scatch was a worry. Never again will I buy something that expensive or rare to drive as a regular driver. My next Infiniti will be a lease car.

Q45Viper, I know what you mean. Eventhough the G35 is not a premium $50k+ car I live in constant fear that someones going to ding the door or someones going to key it at the mall. I have yet to see a carribbean G sedan in my city. The car stands out in the crowd. All Infinitis make a statement "we're bad and we know it" Kev....

Actually the V12 8series was really infamous for <EXPESNIVE> engine maintenance.

On a BMW forum someone once spent $15,000 on a 12 cylinder BMW and wasn't done yet.

Like many (most?) Infiniti owners, I am a former BMW fan but if for a given expense I can get more car with better quality from Infiniti I wont buy a BMW.

Infinti rules..:ylsuper

Amen Fred,I had no intentions of creating a BMW luv fest on the quality INFINITI & Nissan site. If one wants to praise BMW let them do it on another site. I know the person that got whipped by me has now been educated on Infiniti's ie. the G35.Thank you,Kev...

And the V12 is a 2 valve per cylinder SOHC design. Nothing really too fancy compared to a VH45DE.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t

I have always thought the 850 body was one of the best designs ever crafted for under 6 figures - nose to tail - it flowed perfectly IMHO - (A 240Z when it was all growed up !) and what's not to LUV w/that lil' 12 banger ? (yea, yea, $$ on the maintenance - we used to kid my bud about throwing out his credit card to the dealer everytime he passed by on the freeway as ANYthing hiccuped on em, $700 minimum ! ! !) We never did throw one into the wind tunnel, but Lordy, Lordy, Lordy - that BODY, that interior . . . (reaches for the drooling towel)

Anyhooo - with the world's best deal on a 4 door pocket rocket in the garage (a gently used Q) - I'm back to seriously considering 2 doors and tracking down a 92/3 850 for a major project - Da Boss Lady doesn't want me near a Morgan +8 and the Vail Pass down to Vegas - but I think I've convinced her about the "sensibility" of the 850 for a little run like that - maybe we could run from Grand Junction out to the 15 playing w/both of them through the desert hills !

If one ever got an 850 it might be eaiest and cheapest just to throw the engine out for a rebuild, so to not get nickeled and dimed to death.

I agree the 850Ci+ CSi ar simply breathtaking to look at.

I was complimented a while ago by an officemate of one of my colleagues. He had a really nice 850Ci with 70K miles. He looked at my 1995 Q45t, and said "Those are really fast cars!"__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t
