Bluetooth Caller ID

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Whenever someone calls me the caller ID on the screen says "private caller". I have gone into the cars system and input everyone's name and phone numbers but it still says "private caller" when they call. Anyone else have this issue or have I missed a setting somewhere? I have bounced all over through the settings and found nothing.

The names of who is calling me comes across my phone but not on the display in the car????

Hmmm, I didn't have that problem on either my Murano or my Armada, but here are a few thoughts....

- Maybe you need to make sure the area code is programmed into your vehicle, maybe as the call comes in, your vehicle thinks it is a different number simply beause it has the area code in front of it, and maybe you only programmed the 7 digits, or possibly the opposite.....just a thought.

- Your phone may not be paired properly, although I doubt this is the case, maybe it is possible.

Good luck and let us know if things get functioning properly.

OK..Now I am really confused.......

I went through my incoming call log and some of the numbers are identified but most are not. The few that are identified I don't know what provider they are coming from. My cell provider is Sprint and I have the Instinct phone. I went into the phonebook of the car system and input the testing phone number with three different methods. 1) 1-310-xxx-xxxx 2) 310-xxx-xxxx 3) xxx-xxxx None of those made any difference when calling from that cell number. SO......I thought....it's the cell provider (Sprint). So I called from the house phone......same results......."private caller" on the car display.

So calling from a land line and a Sprint cell phone made absolutely no difference. And the few numbers that were displayed in the history.......................those people RARELY call me. But the everyday people are coming through as "private caller".

So what is it actually showing on your phone? Forgetting the call history on the car display, on your phone does it show the numbers, or just say 'private caller'?

If the calls are showing on your phone as number withheld or private caller, then it is a problem with your network - call Sprint and have them resolve it.

All calls on my phone are identified with the incoming number. So as the phone rang from the house phone, the number was displayed on the phone but on the car it said "private caller". That is where I am stumped. The number is identified but is lost when it hits the cars system.

Ok so it's an issue with either the bluetooth connection or with the car. So I guess the next thing to try would be linking another phone to your car and trying that one. If it still just comes up with 'private caller' on the display, then it's an issue with the car system, so I guess I'd get the dealer to look at it.

This has to do with your phone, not with the car. Different bluetooth profiles on different phones have certian abilities to "push" data onto bluetooth systems. I have the same thing happen to me when I get a call, except that the real name shows up once I connect the car. It all has to do with the phone's ability to send the caller information over to the car bluetooth system. Unfortunatly, most phones don't have all of the bluetooth capabilities to successfully do this.
