ive seen other threads about this so it must happen to others, you should just call the dealer up and get the price from them or just find a 240 at a junk yard.

The resistor divider is located on/near the blower motor itself. Look above the ECM on the passenger side. The blower is pretty easy to spot, it's huge on the S13. Look around that area: the resistor pack is about 1-1.5"x1"x0.5"(this is a rough guess from the last I saw mine). It will have 5+ wires going into the pack, and none leaving it. Shouldn't be hard to find.

Oh and $30 is a ripp-off for something that comprises of $4 in electrical parts... You're paying for the convienience of the connector/housing and the payroll of the parts-counter guy... Junkyard for sure IMO... If a junkyard is out, check out http://www.midwaypartsteam.com. I'v found them to be up to 30% cheaper than my local Nissan dealer.

According to what you guys are saying the resistor is the common culprit, but I seem to be having a differant sort of problem, about 2 weeks ago my blower motor started making noises, clicking buzzing, and once when I started the car it whined for a few minutes, at first I thought it was just a leave in the system, but now its quit working completely, Ive gotten it to work once for about an hour while I was on a trip but now, nothing and Ive got that sinking feeling that the bearings are gone. Does anyone know if it is possible to just replace the beerings or am I going to have to replace the whole unit? I will be doing some troubleshooting tonight to find out the problem for certain.

any help would be greatthanks

I don't know the make-up of the blower motor, but if the bearings would have siezed, you would have likely blown 1 or 2 fuses. The motor is not circuit breaker protected(like window motors), so the fuse(s) would pop.

Have you checked to be sure that you are getting power to the blower when it should be on? The connector is easily accessable. The voltage will vary of course depending on what fan speed it is set on. Check those fuses if you don't get any readings.

Theres no power getting to the blower motor. I had to postpone the project though, some things came up, I will be back at it on monday.

First check the two fuses under the D/S dash. If they're OK, it might be the relay behind the stereo. You can replace it with any other 'blue' relay that's in your car(AC for example) to test if that's the problem.

now Im really confused, I took a 2 hour road trip and drove around all weekend with no heat, then on my way home it started working, it worked for about an hour and a half, then it was working, but only at like half power, like it wasnt getting enough juice. Ill check that relay tonight just to be sure.

Hmm, might want to check your fan speed switch. Spray some electrical contact cleaner behind it, and turn the knob back and forth rapidly a dozen times or so(all with it removed or key off/out). If you have a multi-meter you can test the switch to be 100% sure. When it *did* work for you on the ride home, did changing the fan speed switch make any difference at all? If it didn't, it's likely the switch.

Other than that the only thing it could be is a lose wire, short/intermittent connection, on the harness between the switch and the resistor pack. The buzzing you described sounds like the relay trying to switch, but because of a poor connection somewhere, can't quite make it fully switched(the contact will energize/spring back and cause a buzzing sound). Did the noise actually come from the blower, or from behind the radio?

yah, it was coming from the blower motor area, and I was thinking it might be the relay making the noise. Tomorow afternoon Im going to install the extra heater control assembly that came with the car, the guy I bought the car from said he just bought it to use the bulbs out of, hopefully that will work.
