In all fairness, Telco bumped the thread because there was new information about Bristol Palin. It's silly information on a silly topic, but it was still related to this thread.
He could've made a new thread but did this instead, and I'd rather people bump old threads than make news ones, so people can lay off in that regard. It takes a lot for me to want to defend Telco, but this time he posted this admittedly silly info in precisely the right place.
I do think that the rapid disintegration of Bristol Palin's relationship with the father of the child demonstrates that their relationship was the product of a campaign decision (just my own personal observation). I also readily admit that this, while admittedly scandalous, has zero impact on the politics and reality of March 2009.
If Palin ends up as the 2012 nominee, everyone can kiss the GOP goodbye. You may as well nominate Stone Cold Steve Austin.
If the GOP had run Tom Ridge or someone against Obama, they'd probably have won. The solution is NOT to go for some hardcore red-state social conservative in 2012, that isn't going to be electorally viable. Palin would be the perfect example of what NOT to do.
Michael Steele is GOOD for the GOP in my opinion, and I think he would make a decent Presidential nomination. He's trying to take the party in the right direction, make it more inclusive.
Ideological purity is great for garnering, say, radio listeners, but it isn't worth much in regards to winning elections. The GOP needs to stop giving Steele a hard time and let him do his thing, he's good for them.
