It looks like he may have been turning and the side wall gave under the pressure or something but at 90 mph I couldn't see how he could be going around a corner and have that happen and not eat it into a wall what ever the case I hope the car is ok awesome build man keep it coming. EDIT: woot First! on page

SO, as some of you may know, i popped my motor at the Full Auto Motorsports drift workshop... i WAS considering parting it out, but decided against it...

alrighty, so here's the deal, decided not to part out, and i'm going to buy clawhammers motor that we rebuilt together...

specs for those who don't know

S13 SR20DET Red Top, with low low miles Black Top head0 miles (maybe 5 minutes of run time)fresh OEM rebuildARP head studsAPEXi MLS head gasketHKS Step 1 cams (finally getting them back from his f*** a**, LOL much <3)GReddy rocker arm stoppersall new NISSAN OEM gasketsnew OEM front and rear sealsnewish timing set

SO, here's the game plan...

pull the motor out of the black car, the one that's knocking, and throw in clawhammers long block (wont even tell ya how much i'm getting it for), then take the knocking motor, throw it on a stand, tear it down, do a full OEM rebuild, collect other SR parts like trans, harness, ECU etc etc etc over time... THEN drop the basically stock SR into my coupe... and use it as a nice, fresh, low HP boosted daily for myself, and my girl...

dunno when all this is going down, but i should have clawhammers motor by the end of this week... might swap out this weekend, but i dunno, i got that kouki i'm building for that guy in Ft Lauderdale and parts are rolling in for that...

but yeah, that's whats going on in the world of BZ...

oh, and fun times!!

just a couple pics from the event...

cliff notes on event-

i improved GREATLY from the last event, i was s***ty in the morning, and by the end of the day i was linking the whole course...

first time ever doing 3rd gear entries (yeah, i know, slow for some, but i'm still new at this), and was clocking 60mph entrance speeds...

about 1/2 into the event, after HOURS of seat time, i ended a run, came to the pits, and found out i had rod knock...

fun times!!!!

drove it 2 hours home, and she's now parked awaiting the semi built motor!

oh, and i finalized the deal, and got all paid up on my coupe, so i'll be bringing that home tomorrow....

^ That is one sick pic.

I love the casual attitude about your knocking motor and all the work ahead of you. Love it.

Just the nature of a pre-owned imported motor that you don't know the history off; proverbial easter eggs.

I love this thread. Im still interested in knowing happened with your tires. Sucks about the motor, but looks like it isn't bad considering you will now have 2 sr'd vehicles. Pics of the coupe, or is it the same one you had pics of a couple of pages back?

well, i'm the kinda guy who tries not to get too too butthurt about stuff like this, and really, worrying like crazy, cyring my eyes out, what good does that do? does it fix the motor? no, does it replace the motor? no... so to me, it's keep on trucking... after all, it is just a conglomeration of metal, platics, and rubber... but i LOVE IT!!!

the tire came apart at the sidewall where it meets the tread, there was no hard cornering, just cruising down the flat boring florida interstate and it came apart... discount tire people even were like WTF?!?!?!?!

as for the coupe, yes, it's the same red one a few pages back, but i'm just now taking final delivery of it.

yeah, when clawhammer and i put this motor in, we never really checked it out, and i kinda starved it of oil for it's first few minutes, and, well, i built the car to haul a**, and i wont drive it like i'm 80 years old.... abuse, oil starvation, and not checking the motor out before i stuck it in is the cause... so i'm to blame, even though i maintained it METICULOUSLY... i rode it hard, and put it up wet.

BZ do you always have to do this? Here's us normal people having to wait for the next pay check to upgrade something small and you come along with three completely awesome cars. Whats next? Congratulations on making every other NICO member jealous.

Keep up the fantastic work

BlackZenki82 wrote:well small update....

I'm upgrading the tow b****, yet at the same time, downgrading.. i needed something that towed my car a little better, i noticed that the 4.8L V8 in the black truck was a bit sluggish, and straining on the hills, and on ramps... and i've been worried about pushing it too hard...

so, I'm trading it tomorrow for an older truck (1997 vs my current 1999), at has a s*** ton more power and gobs of tq for towing, as 2010 is going to be a big big year for me as far as drifting goes, and i'll be getting my own trailer, and towing my car to ALL events, even the local ones, so i don't have to worry about breaking down and paying hefty tow bills... that, and this truck get's better gas mileage, towing, and empty, than my current 99 4.8L, so wooo hooo!!

here it is...

1997 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 6.5L TURBO diesel, crew cab, 130K, and my favorite, DUALLY (and 2wd so i can slam it!).... all power options, leather seats, heat, AC, all that s***...

i've been wanting one of these since i could drive, back then, for the looks, now, for the looks and the tow capacity!

plans for this rig include either a 4/6 or 5/6 static drop, with rear bags to help with towing, repainting it black (jams and all), 4" exhaust, chip, and upgraded turbo and/or more boost... DONE....

can't wait, getting it tomorrow, should prove to be the best tow rig for what I'm doing!

now to get a trailer..... s*** just got serious.
i dont want to troll or anything, i swear... but, chevy never made a "good" diesel engine until they subbed out for the duramax.

in that same year, i would have went with the ford/international 7.3 or the dodge/cummins 5.9..

if you were going for the crew cab, then just the ford...

but, still... having the black s14 pretty much makes up for that... haha

i've literally read through this entire build... good job man... minus the chevy diesel.

goddamn non working HKS EVC boost controller not working....

i was stuck at the 12psi i think it was, or like 12.5psi... something like that, so i didn't get the power numbers i wanted, but more than expected for just 12psi...

AEM EMS was touched up by Martin from Z Fever, dynojet used at Proven Power...

since i wasn't able to "finish" the tune (sounds a lot like the black car lol) Martin/Doug gave me a good deal, and i basically prepaid for the final tune, so when i get a working EBC/MBC in the car, all i gotta do is call em up, ride down there, and get it finished without having to pay....

oh, and as for the numbers, i only made 400whp @ 12psi, kinda s***ty..... Martin said with a working MBC/EBC I'll see 500whp @ 18-19psi all day long.... now to go get that GReddy Profec B spec II EBC from Tommy....

that is all.

it's not beat, it's just all sanded down, body is straight, i'll tell you that...

and compared to 75% of the 240's out there it's "clean as fuuuuuu" lol...

that, and i basically got it for just under $5,000, so i'm not complaining...
