Hey Blake, That sucks that your lights couldn't be done but at least your turbo will be installed once you get back in!

Hey Guys....I don't know if this would be of any help or not....But I had done this to my '03 Alti and I didn't bake it to get the housing open. I simply used a heat gun on high heat and used a flat head screwdriver to get the housing open, this way I didn't have to worry about anything else melting off. I did one section at a time and worked my way from one end to the other. I may have taken a bit more time to do it that way....but it worked out perfectly.

ah yes a heat gun does help....but a HEAT GUN.....not a hair dryer..and u need more skill using a gun to get it off....i used a gun in some areas where it took too long to get to and the expoxy solidified again....

guy/ gals....this is a major undertaking...i wont sugar coat it....its easy to mess up and its a one shot deal...i took my time cause i had a spare to play with...i wasnt worried about getting it back on the car... nor was i worried about screwing up so much...WORRY is a big factor....even if its in the back of your mind...."set urself free young jedi..feel the force" crap....use a giunea pig first if you can....this way you can figure out stuff....i got mine for 40 stinking bucks...ebay rules....now that our car have been out a bit..i am sure collison yards got em too...

it would actually be pretty simple to do, just get a second person to take pics while you are doing the work!

the next person that does this, please have a second person at hand with a camera so we can see the process!

Yea, its only the housings on the 07+ lower model nissans that have this deisgn flaw. The G37 and 350z have the normal glue. Back in 03 era the used the normal, pliable, glue. This silicone based glue they are using today has much much higher melting point, therefore, a much harder process to get open. A heat gun can and will work, but the best option will be the receeding heat oven technique used by grystrm

Providing your oven is big enough to fit the headlight....unlike my oven!

Another reason for rebakeing the housing is to set the paint. Alot of paint has a tendence to relise chemicals when heated for the first time. So bakeing them again sets the paint so they dont fog up your lights once they heat up again.
