First, I want to say that I really enjoy looking around at everyone's different modifications and that the little do-it-yourself tutorials really help. Second, I know that all black isn't everyone's cup of tea but I like it, its different... I haven't seen too many to do it. What I have done so far is paint the badges, tint the tail lights, and add a Batman vinyl sticker to the third brake light. My process included trying to decide to go flat black or gloss with the emblems and whether or not to use vinyl wrap on the tail lights (estimated $180) or paint them. I decided to paint them and place them in the oven to try and separate the glue to paint the inside..... Three minutes and 350 degrees later the tail light began to melt  So instead I painted the outside using VHT night spray even though I heard six months later they begin to really fade - I guess we'll see. FYI after talking to a buddy who is a cop, in Florida it isn't illegal (well illegal enough to really get pulled over) as long as you can see the lights within 1,000 feet. I had them on my Pontiac G6 for three years and was never pulled over for them. Sorry for the glare on some of these, night shots are coming (looks even better). Future plans includes painting the grill black to complete the look.

I just used a "universal" body spray paint from discount autoparts because they didn't have a nissan black (after sanding, etc.)... however, it wasn't glossy enough so i applied one layer of clear gloss on the nissan emblem.. thinking about applying another layer or two to shine a little more.

once the car is turned on the lights shine right through. i did them darker than i would normally intend on doing after hearing that they may fade. i'll post some more with lights on during the day and night as soon as i get another person to press the brake while i snap a few.

alotta ppl have been telling me to do the same & tint my tail lights also but im hesitant about it... i already did my headlights the gtr style black with paint & they still look fresh & sleek... hasnt faded at all IMO. i like having the lil red to break the car up a lil... but you did a great job painting them... i like the batman logo on yours as well!!! as you can see from my sig i put my DJ name as my third break light.

btw wat part of florida are you in??? Im always lookin for new coupes to snap a couple pics with

nice job. there arent that many cars that can pull this off like yours. now to get some black rims to match :chuckle:
IMO though, i would have left the reverse lights alone, not only to help with visibility, but also because it looks pretty cool....but thats just me

man, big fan of your car. yours is prolly what i looked up the most on this board before doing this. ive had your grill bookmarked for a while the all black (the factory one) and didn't know it haha its what helped me decide that i must black it out.

i agree with the reverse light and even considered it but making it into a perfect circle would have been beyond my ability ha i did it on my old G6 and even had black rims but they were only 18s

the darkness of yours is my IDEAL!! but they look similar when the pictures are taken after the sun begins to go down like yours and my first three. i may redo them someday to make them darker because i like not seeing the red but you can only see them during the mid afternoon like those pictures also, i think i should have went with the overlays after looking at others..

Damn that VHT is garbage then. Mine are one even coat of the Rusto spray tint. Comes out dark as hell but still lets light through.

You guys have to remember that it's a federal DoT law that local law enforcement officers MUST see red in the tail lights. It's also promulgated down to the inspection shops but they are not required to enforce this law. I think have your tails tinted too dark is just asking for trouble. Ask Phenom, he got ticketed in NY for having his tails tinted and when he got to my house, we stripped off the tints with lacquer thinner.

Agreed, you have to at least have the reflector visible. I mean it does look good but if I was behind you in the fog or at night I'd barely be able to see you. The reflectors are there for safety and visibility.

To his/her own I guess. :)

I understand what you're saying but I wouldnt have done it if it wasn't safe (well obviously a project like this is a little less safe)... but you can definitely see the lights well within 1,000+ feet which is considered to be safe. you have to take into account that the car isn't even on, the lights are not lit. I'll try and take pictures of them from a distance once I get around to taking a couple of night shots.

Meh, I just never really been a big fan of debadging the entire back to the car. it just looks odd to me, not to say that it isn't a good look. Idk, seems like the badge colors are kind of off.. Like maybe i should add another layer of clear gloss?

well the thing is that i used the emblem glue for the letters (double sided tape for the nissan emblem) so is it reversible? can i take off the letters/numbers now without hurting the paint? i like vinyl... as far as the batman symbol, i just used google shopping. this is one with the newer batman symbol as well as the option for the old one

So i finally got around to painting the front grill (well just the chrome part, i haven't got to the actual grill part). it came out a littler "matte"-r than i expected but i think it still looks good. Please excuse the bugs
