Black box blow Intake tube?

I looked in the FSM and can't seem to find a pic. Its under the top rad hose and intake tube and Connects to the bottom of the Intake. In the circled part of the pic is the area of it.

The box that attaches to the bottom of the intake and is connected to the fan shroud/radiator? What about it? It just is made to reduce noise in the intake. Can be removed, just have to plug that hole on the intake.

I didnt notice what It was connected to. For some reason I thought it was connected to the Intake Mani haha. Thanks I'll remove it, Im trying to slowly clean up the bay

the black box located below the radiator hose connected to the front cover and underside of the intake manifold is the housing for your pcv valve...also known as an oil separator or catch can.

Improves VE as well. Lots of cars come with them, it's to improve WOT response when you suddenly snap the throttle.

EDIT: Moso, are you sure? When I replaced my rad and the hoses, it wasn't connected to anything else...

yeah, I'm pretty sure on this one. the box bolts onto the front cover just below the thermostat housing. mounted pointing to the firewall on the rear of the box is the pcv valve. the valve connects to a metal runner with 4 ports that attach to 4 nipples, one under and just behind each of the injector ports. It is rarely changed because of its terrible location, which results in many bad valve cover gaskets ~.~ ! I nixed mine when i stripped the intake manifold to prepare it for boost. this thread shows a beautiful picture of the valve and its housing about 5 posts in where-is-the-pcv-valve-location-on-a-95 ... 95487.html

EDIT: I never actually removed the pcv, its now plumbed into a catch can that will be routed to the intake pre-charger. I removed the nipples on the intake and plugged them with threaded plugs.

The black box he's referring to does it connect to anything except for the intake tube.

any response to this yet? I'm wondering too. I was gonna put in an aluminum intake then i noticed the stock pipe had this giant port that connects to that box adjacent to the radiator shroud. haven't had time to get underneath to get a good look but its definitely not breather seperator.

Alright, so it bothered the hell out of me....heres your answer:
Just another closed black box...no connections other than the bung from the intake pipe. 3 screws that holds it. Bottom left screw has a bendy clip.

I'd keep it...like I said before, it does more than just quieten the intake sound.
