Since she was suppose to start on Sunday and you guys did it on Sunday the chances of her being pregnant are slim, it’s possible but slim. (I could go into detail as to why but I won’t, too much typing) With this being her first month on the pill it’s not surprising that she hasn’t started yet. Her hormones and cycle are probably way out of wack right now and will start to normal out after the initial 3 month time period. Don’t stress too much about it and use condoms in the future. And depending on what you read and who you talk to pills/patch/shot and all of the hormonal birth control methods listed above do some crazy things to a woman’s body. It’s a wonderful thing but at the same time it’s kinda scary to read about the side effects and what it does to you down the road after repeated years of use. I have my biological perspective of health and wellness instructor to thank for that info. kinda makes you think twice before going on any type of hormonal birth control.
That's true, there are side-effects to any drug/hormonal therapy but it varies in severity. If you smoke, your risk for adverse side effects are two-fold vs someone who does not and even more so for high hormone content like the patch. Also, people who have family history of blood clots, heart attacks and high blood pressure should not go on hormonal therapy such as b/c.
A lot of people are afraid of the side effects, i was actually told by my planned parenthood gyno that there will be some mild nausea/fatigue in my first month of starting the pill for the first time. She was right, but it was very manageable. My mom tried to freak me about by telling me when she was on the pill (during the 70's when it was new, and in high hormone doses) she lost a lot of hair and was fatigued a lot. That was then, nowadays all gyno's start you off on Ortho Tricyclin Low-dose, and hair loss is rare ( i didn't lose any).
Besides the side effects though, there are benefits too, b/c reduces your risk for ovarian cancer, improves the skin (because acne can be hormone-induced), and is good for people with amenia. I can attest to that, as i was slightly anemic before the pill.
