That's right ladies! The Next GT-R has absolutely nothing to do with the G35 or Z!!! It has nothing to do with the current"Skyline" which really isn't one.

Excerpt from Car and Driver, Nov. 2004:"Built on a new platform that is not shared with the standard model Skyline, or infiniti G35 coupe, as it's known stateside, it will likely make the GT-R far more expensive than run-of-the-ill G35 coupes. There are conflicting reports out of Japan regarding the powerplant. One camp beleives the GT-R will be powered by a Cosworth developed twin turbo version of the current 3.5 liter V-6, offering at least 450 horsepower. Others beleive a new twin turbo 3.2 liter v6 will get the call.To make sure the GT-R has supercar handling, chassis engineers from Lotus were selected to develop ts steering, suspension, and drivetrain."

My trust in Nissan is restored

Kinda looks like an A34 Maxima front with a Z33 behind. And some G and M features thrown in for good measure. It's not as sexy as the R34 GT-R Vspec II, but I like it.

In the artistic drawing the car still looks like a G35 C. I personally don't mind if they build it off the G35 platform.

I guess it'll just have to grow on me, much like NICO's new layout has grown on me.

Those wheels do look a tad large though... They look like 19 or 20"

Well that's the best looking pic so far, it looks totally edited, far from real...maybe it's just because it's a poor scan but it looks very photoshopped.

i've seen another picture of the new GT-R out of Road & Track a few months ago. Looked just like that, but it was at a stand still. I have a feeling that that's the final production car. I like it a lot better than the concept.

yeah but nissan announced the GTR would be a seperate car from the rest of the skyline line up almost immediatly after retiring the R34. I have read in several places that the GTR will use a variant of the current Z engine with twin turbo chargers. It has been confirmed that lotus has been contracted to develop the suspension, I've heard it will be dual wishbone but not from anywhere reliable. I've heard the price point is 60-90 thousand. rediculous!

Yes. So rediculous to charge 60-90k fo a 2006/2007 when a 1996 easily sells for around 90k. Very rediculous to sell a car that will likely perform with the best from Porche and Ferrari--which cost over 200k for a decent one--for 60-90k. It's not rediculous at all. It's just outside your price range. I couldn't even afford a Z, but I don't say 36k for a decent sports car is rediculous. I just live with it. I'm as skeptical about this as the next guy, I really am. I was also skeptical about the sixth generation Maxima when it was announced. The car is the best Maxima ever. I was skeptical about the Z33 when it came out. It's definitely lived up to its name. I have no reason to beleive Nissan will screw this one up when they are on the roll they're on now. Give them a chance, they've earned it.

wtf are you talking about? where does a 1996 skyline sell for 60,000? from motorex, sure, they are making a lot of money off people. In japan? **** no! they are USED cars, just being nice used cars doesn't change that.By the time the GTR comes out, 90,000 will be well within my price range. But I wouldn't pay that for what this car will be.And, the GTR is a nissan, not a ferrari. When you buy into a ferrari you are buying into that exclusive, exotic nameplate. Not quite the same with a Nissan, no matter how much it makes car guys cream their pants.

Yawn. R32 GT-R is still the one to own. The most pure of the late model GT-Rs.

I've seen absolutely pristine R34 GT-Rs at dealerships here in the 4-5.5 Million Yen range. That's about $35K to $50K. And those on the higher end of the price spectrum usually have under 15,000 Km on them and usually some upgrades (exhaust, big uber-expensive wheels). The husband of one of my girlfriend's coworkers purchased a very clean R32 GT-R for only 1.5M Yen. That's only like $13K. My little brother paid more than that for his Honda Accord. Whatever Nissan decides to sell the Skyline GT-R for once it hits state-side, I'm sure they'll do their best to give it a very competitive price for it's performance. It's just a crappy situation for anyone wanting a Skyline in the US. They're actually quite affordable cars for their performance. A bigger bang for the buck than an M3, IMO. And they're better looking.... and that's not opinion, just FACT

<---misses the inline 6

Not a bad design though, like crazycav said, it would have to grow on me. I miss the R35 cg concepts from a while ago, they retained the lines of the R34 but a lot more smoother, wedge-shaped and more aggressive-looking.

Yeah, I remember when I was that concept years ago. The R34 is my all time favorite...well after the Hakusuka...Skyline, so I found that concept very sexy. I like the looks of this one, too, just not nearly as much.

And yeah...I'm going to miss the inline six. But the VQ is an incredible engine, so there shouldn't be anything to worry about. Besides...450 factory-rated, out-the-door hp sounds good no matter what's making it.

It's got a picture of what looks to be a concept vehicle...I didn't read the part about the STi because I don't like Subaru very much...I think I have the magazine with me though...let me see....yeah, I've got it. Sorry, I'm at work, so I can't scan the pic (which is very cool...subaru actually made a good looking car!!), but here's the article:

Excerpt from same magazine as stated above, same page:

"The Illustration above, purloined [er...huh --ed] by our man in Japan, is an insider's estimation of what the next Impreza WRX STi [QRS TUV --ed] will look like. Although many of the characteristic features of the current car are carried over--hood scoop, aggressive fender flares, enormous wing--the rest of the car shares some styling elements with Subaru's new corporate face, exemplified by the B9 Scrambler concept car designed by Andreas Zapatinas and displayed on a pedestal at the 2003 Tokyo show. The front-end styling of the concept is shown here [well...it would be --ed] and is reportedly the face of future Subarus. A new Impreza WRX STi should hit Japanese roads in 2007 and ours soon after."

I'll go and see if the pic is available somewhere else...Meantime, you can wonder suspensfully what it looks like...

Sorry, can't find it anywhere. I could stop by my parents place on the way back from work this morning and scan the one from the magazine, though. It'll be a few hours. Odds are you're asleep now anyway though.
