Nissan had ALWAYS said that it would be a seperate platform from the G35/Z, I've made what seems like a billion posts about this on a billion forums....

Anyway, somehow I don't see those headlights making it into production exactly as they are, Nissan isn't going to want people confusing it's $60k+ supercar with a G35. If it'll be turbo & AWD (which sounds almost certain at this point), what it looks like is sorta irrelevant to me. I'd be willing to bet that the US will get real ATTESA too.

I remembered that after I made the thread. And you'll pardon me if I haven't read any of your "billion" posts. Just trying to inform people with what I read. Seems you're the only one who doesn't appreciate it.Aside from that, if I hadn't known, it would have been because I did not know. I was not priveleged enough to stumble across one of your vaunted posts. I'm not doing this specifically to piss you off. It's people like you who scare anyone slightly curious, but not all knowing like your marvelous self, from these forums. I figured I'd get some argument over a subject as heated as this...but you're just being an ***...go away.

And those headlights don't look anything like the G35. The look like they were ripped straight off a sixth gen Maxima.

I really need a disclaimer in my sig: "Please excuse my very refined (some would say the total opposite, but they're dummies) sense of overly sarcastic humor. If I've made a post, I'm more than likely making fun of you. Thank you and have a nice day"

But SARSiously now, GTR concepts, who cares. Until it's being shipped to the dealerships, it's all hearsay. And the current "picture" looks just like what someone already said, they made a maxima, 350z and g35 all drive through professor frink's matter teleportation machine and thats what came out. But I guess if we can't have the moving sidewalks promised to us in the magical year 2000, we can have the wierd *** cars, eh?

LOL! Dont mind him. Toki is just being toki. Most of his posts(like that one) are due to his lack of sleep.

In all actuality, you should fear toki. For he IS responsible for the creation of the best/most posted in/ultimate whoring thread on NICO.

Minister:

Whoa there man, not trying to rip on you personally. We chatted about videogames remember, you're cool, I like you, I'm not trying to start any s**t.

I'm not implying that you would have or should have read one of my posts, none of them, after all, were on NICO. All the R35 GT-R speculation sort of gets to me, just because there's so much of it and a lot of it is so uninformed, but I'm actually glad you posted this because it's the first time I've seen a post of this version and not the squarish one from a couple of years ago (which is certainly not going to be the production car, unfortunately in my opinion).

I do think the lights look vaguely G35-ish, just because they have that vertical look to them, rather than the horizontal style on the R32-34. I am not a fan of lights like this, but then again, I also believe the best-looking GTR was sold back in 1971, so I'm a bit odd.

Anyway, it is just a car after all, and a currently nonexistent one at that. Sorry I phrased things the way I did, didn't mean to come off like an a$$hole.

Alright. Sorry about the...aggressive response. I hate all the mindless, uninformed R-35 speculation as much as the next guy. I hate it for three reasons. One: like you I can't stand people who go around passing misinformation. Two: I revere the Skyline more than most. I've been a Skyline fan since I was old enough to appreciate a car. The car and its history are sort of a part of me. And third: I think we need a new subject. REally bad. No matter how incredible a car is, there is such thing as too much. I found some dude on some other forum talking about how it's going to be called a V34 because of the engine change.

I remember, now that you mention it, though, the statement from nissan saying that the GT-R was not going to have anything to do with the Skyline. It was on a Car-A-Day calendar, and had one of the original GT-R concepts from before the R-34 was even discontinued--the rear was perfect, modern styling, preserving the cicles-within-circles taillights that are famous on every R-body after the R31. It was gorgeous. It almost looked like and NSX, but still retained the good lines from the R33 and R34. Personally, I think GM stole the design for the C6 Corvette. Anyhow...apology for getting on your case. I was so excited to have a decent, reputable source of info on the GT-R that I found myself annoyed when informed I was slipping up. We can expect to see this car in GT4 as a reward for a lisence medal, I'd be willing to bet on it.

Where might this be? I shall contribute my equally senseless...and yet well formed and grammatized--is that a word?--statements.

Second note:I got pissy with a few people in this thread yesterday. I was annoyed with work, and hadn't had enough sleep. Sorry if I offended anyone.

And I'm not sure why, but I felt like putting a toilet here--->

MinisterofDOOM wrote:Yeah, I remember when I was that concept years ago. The R34 is my all time favorite...well after the Hakusuka...Skyline, so I found that concept very sexy. I like the looks of this one, too, just not nearly as much.

And yeah...I'm going to miss the inline six. But the VQ is an incredible engine, so there shouldn't be anything to worry about. Besides...450 factory-rated, out-the-door hp sounds good no matter what's making it.
well if the VQ is slated to make that much hp out of the box then it doesn't bother me it's a v6.

The question is aftermarket/dealer provided performance possibilities.

How many Skylines have you owned/driven to say that?

I personally think that my V35 is a much better car than 4-door HR33 with RB25DET that I drove this summer.

I am probably part of only a handful of people on this forum that have really driven a GT-R.I have experienced an R32 GT-R with minor bolt-ons (Intake, Turbo-Back Exhaust and boost controller) and it was still maddening. Since I'm only used to driving my girlfriend's hilariously slow Suzuki Wagon R, the R32 seemed like light speed in comparison. Amazing brute power. Amazing prowess. If these characteristics are carried over into the next platform of Skyline with a competitive price(i.e. ~$50,000) then it will be a guaranteed success. I only hope that it will be so that I can buy myself a cheap used one by the time I make it back to the states.

It's going to be an incredible car. I can't wait. The C6 as it is right now is already amazing, especially for its price.

The Pontiac GTO and Cadillac CTS-V all get the C6 engine next year, the GTO at 400 and CTS-V at 500. I love that 6 liter small block.

Hmmm interesting thread

here are some pics of the GTR "Test Mule" being tested at Nurburgring in Germany.

Looks very much like the V35 with a bit of a body kit at the moment

"A German photographer snapped these pics recently, remarking on how quickly the car was travelling around that part of the 'ring. A professional driver from Japan has been flown to Germany to carry out "overall" testing with emphasis on aerodynamics appraisal." (source: Best Car magazine)

Notice that it looks to have a shorter wider wheel base than the V35 as the wheels at the rear seem to be pushed forward in relation to the position of the wheel arch compared to the V35 and the guards are rolled out a little more.

I think IMHO that they may be testing the chassis and suspension and overall performance in a modified V35 shell.

Sure as hell hope it looks better than that, when they are finished with the styling though

they are definately testing the power plant and suspention in that v35. i remember when they were developing the z33 they put the vq in the z32 to test it. in doing so they eliminate the variable of an undeveloped chassi interfearing with the test results. toyota did the same thing when they developed their f1 engine, they stuck it in the lemans car and tested it. this means that the oppisite is true as well. i bet there is alot of normal cars on nurbergring with funny sounds coming out of them!

lol, holy crap that looks funny

it looks like a poorly designed video game car...wheels seem to be more sunken, the wheelbase is DEFINATELY shorter, and it seems to me that the GT-R is going to be more comparable to the size of the 350Z
