Hello everyone, This is my first post and ive been on nico for a short while but havent had time to introduce. Well i have the 2.5 coupe 09 dark slate....basically stock and base (hubcaps and no sunroof) but i got it for 15k after the cash for clunkers deal so not bad plus ima college kid so not much money coming in. But ok all i did so far was replace my bulbs to luminics blue and recently added ebay halo fog lights. I wish to one day have nismo 19" gunmetals on it with nismo catback and injen intake.....one day when i have 3 grand ....but yea ive been reading some posts and u guys are awesome thanks for info on just about anything. One thing im still lost is...well i know that in the manual it says about the "opening windows with your remote" but mine doesnt do it. Is it because it didnt come with my AC?

Thanks in advance and hope to post more

Welcome, glad to have you aboard.

Two other members on here don't have the feature either, they have 6speed 2.5 base models (sickkwidit, chrispizzitola)

I'm not sure if it's a base model thing, or a base model + 6 speed thing.

Yea, you have to at least have the automatic up/down windows on both the driver and passenger side for the key fob to let the up and down.

can u please do a write up with pictures on going through the firewall and installing the switch. I will be installing fogs on mine if I can get a write up lol.

Try and snatch up the nismo rims now if u have your heart set on them because they will be harder to find if you wait since they a discontinued

sorry bro i havent ran em through the firewall yet so i basically just connect it through the hood on the outside when i use it (GHETTO!!!) i know but thats for now until i either get it through the firewall or have a stereo shop do it cuz my landlord doesnt want people working on their cars (sometin bout spilling liquids??) plus you can search it and i found a couple places that show how to firewall it but the wires i have are kinda thick so no way its gonna go thru the rubber wall.....here are some links,,,http://www.nissanclub.com/foru....html

oh and depending on which fogs you bought(if its OEM your good with fitment) but i bought kinda universal ones that were meant to put behind the precut holes and the clamp it came with was useless so i basically secured it using zipties which is working out pretty good so far but this weekend ima take out everything and try to customize the bumper so it fits good....ill take pictures as well to show you. Wiring is pretty easy too....mine came already with the relay and fuse built in the wires so all i had to do was connect two red wires to the positive battery terminal and ground two black wires and theres ur power source. Its just a biatch to mount the fogs and get past the firewall

I would not recommend linking to a competitive forum. A mod may make you delete or edit your post.

I think this is the easiest way to run wires through the firewall.

oh please- that forum is what i started on, and now im 100,000% dedicated to this one lol- plus nothings even updated on that anymore :P

(but they do have a PM feature- LBC- get on that ) lol

the fogs look sick and welcome to the group :D

PhEnoM's not REALLY ghey,- andy the canadian midget is :P lololol

basiest base package isnt bad tho- ur car weighs less lol :P and u got a sick deal so u should be happy :P basically- u paid the price of a full fledged cobalt LMFAO so u should be happy u got a car that will last u 20 years :P and more than 100k miles - and wen u mod this one- its not rice sounding AT ALL

on a side note- as far as ur nismo catback (good choice btw) http://www.leeparts.com has a fantabulous deal usually on the entire setup - and they ran a nice lil shindig for us Nico'ers for a bit- so that'd be where i'd start. if u want a vid or sumthin of it- shoot me an email n i'll send u one

peace broooo

hey Trancer, can you post some pics of your install? i've got the same lights as i mentioned, and i was going to hook them up last weekend but i lost my instructions!

the wires to the lights are straightforward, but i'm not sure where the other connections go, i've got 2 red and 2 black, and one of the red is just a bare wire with no connector, i assume this is the ground wire? i think it's supposed to be one red and one black straight to the battery, and one black goes to a power source for the switch, but i'm not too sure.

i'm also not too sure how i'm going to get the wires through the firewall, it seems like you have to put a lot of the wiring through, i don't want to be putting a 1/2" hole into my firewall and grommet. any thoughts?

ok there are 4 wires. 2 wires are red 2 wires are black. DO not hook up a black wire to the battery. Both black wires are just for grounding and the two red wires are for power source. You know how one of the red wires has a hook and the other one doesnt....well what i did was i hooked both red wires to the battery. I loosened up the positive terminal and snuck both red wires in between the bolt and then just tightened it so it doesnt come out.( BUT MAKE SURE YOU USE A WIRE STRIPPER TO expose about half inch of actual wire that doesnt have the hook. The black wires are just grounded to whatever is nearby and metal. Ima take a picture of my setup one of these days, maybe tomorow, and post it cuz i was confused at first too. As far as the firewall.....lol...havent done that yet.....its too damn hard....i saw a way where you take out your wheel and go behind the wheel well to hook it up but iono. Plus it is a pretty thick set of wires so if i do it, ill probably do it this weekend bro. If not im taking it to a stereo shop or something. As far as connecting the fogs, i used zip ties and went all out(used imagination) and its pretty sturdy. Im planning one ordering blue bulbs soon so when those come in, ill do a write up of the whole process.

i managed to mount my fogs fine, i've got some wire holding it in place but i plan to make some custom mounts using the old fog light cover and some pcv piping, and probably some zip ties.

sounds like you're having the same issues as I am, i just don't see how to get the massive amount of wires into the front, there's so many wires. the only way i can think of is extending the switch wire and run that either through the firewall or through the wheel well (i saw this method too). it's almost not worth the trouble, i might just change them to OEM's down the road, i've been driving around for a year already with non-working fogs, they're just kinda there for show atm. ughh.. teaches me to go non-oem

yea i know what you mean, im planning this weekend on maybe trying to get the wires past the rubber grommet somehow. And yeah as far as the actual fogs, they arent as bright as i thought when u turn em on . You have to consider these are H3 bulbs while OEM are H11s. It is mostly for show but i plan on having the halos lit up most of the time anyway. Let me know how the custom mounting goes cuz like i said mine is just all zip ties.

did you get the "xenon" bulbs with your kit? are you using them or using the original bulbs that came with it? I threw the xenon bulbs in there but the connection looks different and i haven't tried to see if it will fit yet but they aren't even the same shape. i might end up going back to the other bulbs

You can get a 4 AWG wire through an existing hole in the firewall behind the glove box in the link I posted. Did you look at it?

heres a great write up on how to properly hook up a set of fog lights. I used this one and it worked great.

Quote »No I did not take photos but it's easy as pie.

First off purchase a 4 pin, Single Throw/Single Pull 12V 30A replacement light relay. Parts stores usually have them near the driving lights. You will also need some insulated flat female connectors, electrical tape, wire crimps/cutters, and 3 or 4 ring terminals.

The relay should be marked with 4 terminals. 30, 85,86,87.30 = Power/battery85 = Ground86 = Switch/Parking Lights87 = Fog Light

Now get you car in the air. Ramps, or jack stands work (do not leave a car on a jack without stands under it!) Use a flat heads screw driver or a small pry bar to remove the push pins holding the splash sheild up. Pry the center out 1/4" then pull the old pin out.

Once that is off you can access your fog light blanks. One bolt holds it in place and it's vertical above the blank, you'll be able to feel it with your hand. Use a 10mm socket and take it out, the bottom is just held in the a clip, it will pull right off.

Took about 6"s of wire, and put a flat female connector on one side and a ring terminal on the other. Looking into the light opening on the passengers side you will see a bumper bolt, IIRC it was a 14mm not positive on the size. I removed it using a long extension and swivel, a wrench may work also. I put it back on with the ring connecter on it to ground the fog lights. For the drivers side I twisted two 6" peices of wire together. I put a ring terminal on one end, and a flat female connector on the othe rend and where the two are twisted together. Then like the other side remove the bolt, and ground the ring terminal. The middle female connect can be plugged into your relay at the terminal marked 85.

Now you can install the lights in reverse order that blanks came out. Plug your grounds into the light bulbs.

Now I messured enough wire to run from one fog light to the next. On the passengers side end I put a flat female connector and plugged it into the bulb. Then ran it over to the drivers side where I twisted it together with another 6" peice of wire. I took the twisted wires and put a flat female connector on them and plugged them into the drivers side fog light. On the other end of the 6" wire another flat female connector which was then connected to the realy terminal 87.

Take a wire with a female connector on it plugged into the #86 terminal on the relay and run it up to your drivers side parking light bulb. I forgot what color was positive, but you can use a test light or multimeter to check, or leave it unplugged until last and then check to see which one turns the lights on.You can connect the wire several ways. You could splice the factory wire, or use a quick crimp. You could push the wire into the back of the connect and tape it so it doesn't move. Or you could remove the clip and push the bare wire into the clip, fold it back and push the clip back onto the bulb.

Now another wire with a female connector from the #30 terminal up to the battery. You can use a ring terminal or a U terminal. Remove one of the top nuts and put on your terminal and retighten the nut. Make sure your wrench doesn't hit anything metal while doing this.

All Done. Now go and test your lights.

If they don't work make sure you have all the connectors pushed in. If you hear a click the relay is working. If you don't check to make sure that switch wire at the parking light is connected to the positive wire.

When you are sure they work you can mount the relay up and out of the way. I used a ZipTie to another wire harness. I then tucked the wire running across the front end behind the lower part of the bumper cover. Then reinstall your splash sheild. Your all done. [/quote]

iammmai: useful method but our wiring isn't that long, we'd have to exted the wires which is what i'm trying to avoid. the fogs i bought have multicolored halo's which has a bunch of wires, like 6-10 wires. so i'm not eager to cut and extend that many wires.

shortys408: good thread but that's for OEM or replica fogs, the fogs we have are from autopia, they don't have the h11 connector so we can't make use of the prewired relay, and as i mention above it's got more wires than stock fogs so we can't just hook em up to the fuse box, we have to use the switch the kit came with.

trancer: another quick question, you posted a pic of the lights on, did you just hook up the fogs to the power source and put the switch in the engine bay? since you say that you haven't run the cables into your cabin yet.
