shortys408: good thread but that's for OEM or replica fogs, the fogs we have are from autopia, they don't have the h11 connector so we can't make use of the prewired relay, and as i mention above it's got more wires than stock fogs so we can't just hook em up to the fuse box, we have to use the switch the kit came with.

trancer: another quick question, you posted a pic of the lights on, did you just hook up the fogs to the power source and put the switch in the engine bay? since you say that you haven't run the cables into your cabin yet.
Thats not true, you can wire any set this same way. The relay mentioned in that write up does not go in the fuse box, I zip tied mine down.

yea man i basically did all the wiring and just hooked up the switch to see if it worked and took a pic. As of now it is not hooked up to the switch in the engine bay cuz no point in opening and closing the hood to turn on the lights haha. Sometimes when the weathers nice i hook it up and run the switch through the hood and stick it on the windshield right next to the wiper so its easy to turn on and off but if it rains ur F&*(ed. And as far as the "xenon bulbs" haha yea i changed them.....ITS a pain tho cuz the rubber grommet is tight behind the fog light. When i first got it, it took me two hours to change the bulbs cuz the seal ring kept coming out but it does fit and NO...it is not blue...it still emits that amber color....its probably a bit less amber than the stock one but not worth taking it out. PLus when i took out the bulb, it stretched out the rubber hole and when i put it back on and rained, there was water inside it cuz i guess the hole expanded during changing bulbs so i ended up sealing it with electrical tape. I want to buy some H3 bulbs off ebay that are like 20$ but actual lightish blue no amber color but it seems if i buy an aftermarket one, youll notice our tips of the wire for each bulb is like cylindrical while an aftermarket one has a square shape so iono how that would work. My suggestion is just leave the bulb thats in there until you buy one you know for sure is going to be akeeper.

i dont think u should use that write up on how to run through the firewall....there was another write up as well....that showed you how to install a switch by the trunk button...and you could run the wires through the firewall underneath the steering column.you can see if you look underneath by the break petal there is a bunch of wires all wrapped together that leads to the engine bay....if you look under the hood, look past the air intake..there is a space that you can put your arm through and that where the wires come out from on the other side....

i can take pictures tomorrow if you need.when i installed my LED running lights, that is what i did. it only took me about 20 min to breach the firewall.

im sure someone can find the write up that im talking about.

i think i know what your talkin about. THe really thick rubber grommet that has a shietload of wires going to the inside behind the hood open handle. The thing is that the wires we have are really think (about half inch) that needs to go through, not just a skimpy lil wire....so thats the hard part cuz i dont wanna make such a big hole where condensation or mold is gonna start forming

ahhh damn, i already changed the bulbs when i first got the fog lights and yeah i had a hell of a time pushing the wires back through the grommet, i think that might be my source of condensation, i might want to put some silicone in there.

to shorty, i'm tellin you that we can't hook it up the way you describe because our fogs have 3 switches. we can hook it up that way but then we won't be able to utilize the halos. the switch from the kit needs to go into the cockpit.

I think i'm going to just suck it up and extend the wires. i figure i'll wire up everything under the hood, and extend the wire for just the switch since that seems to be the part of the harness with the least amount of wires and the thinnest. I'll just have to figure out some way to color code the wires so that i can hook them back up to the right wires after i've run it through. with the amount of work that needs to be done i wonder if i'll bother doing it at all

haha dont worry man....ima try to do it this weekend....ima ask my brother to help me make a hole big enough to squeeze the wires through and once its positioned i might just buy the 3M rubber sealant and put some to refill the rubber. It might just work

wow you're going to try to push those connectors through the grommet? i wouldn't want to cut a hole that big in there. i'm leaning towards going through the hole in the wheel well and up through the door sill, but like i said i gotta cut and lengthen the wire to do it. good luck, wish me luck too

yea haha good luck....if i do end up pushing it through ima end up sealing it back up with 3M rubber sealant. I just dont want the hassle of going out, buying more wires, cutting, connecting....too much work

yo man i did it. It wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. I pulled out the intake. Cut some carpet/ cardboard(this was a biatch). And with help i first put a screwdriver through the rubber grommet. It went through to the inside, then i got my electric scredriver and drilled a hole through it, but first you have to cut the rubber grommet from the inside piece by piece only where the wires are gonna go through. Then after you drill it, keep cutting the rubber until you can stick your finger in it and goes to the other side, then i just put electric tape on the tips of the switch wire so it doesnt get damaged. Put it throught the hole and have someone on the other side pull it and voila. I spent 4 hrs on it mostly because i didnt have sharp scissors to cut the carpet or a sharp knife to cut the rubber. and BELIEVE IT OR NOT, there isnt a big whole in the rubber, once the wire was put through, it basically closed itself but ima put rubber sealant on it anyways just in case. Heres a link i used to do such thing. http://s140.photobucket.com/al...7.jpg

its very helpful IT HAS PICS TOO.

that's awesome, glad to hear you got it done. i'm still kinda shocked that you managed to push those connectors through the grommet, they seem so huge. looks like i've got some motivation to do it now that i know it can be done without extending the wires. are you going to try to mount the fogs better? cause when you just stick them in the fog holes they kind of aim down and to the side

yea i know what your talking about, when you mount them behind the precut circles, its aiming outwards a little thats why not much light gets exposed in front i guess. But eventually i wanna take out the bumber and do some custom cuts so that the fog actually fits from the outside so more light is exposed and so the full halo can be seen. oh and as far as doing the firewall....make sure you have help, i wish i wouldve taken pics but my phone was dead and thats the only camera source i have. But the link i posted is basically what i did, its just about cutting lil chunks of rubber until you can drill it through. Just be very careful u dont drill too close to the other wires.
