according to the FAQ hey are 9.5:1float_6969 wrote:DE pistons aren't 9.5:1. they're 10:1.
My pistons are basically a DE piston crown on a DET piston from CP. They were custom, but they have them on file now and I can get them whenever.
And yes, 10:1 compression + boost if fine on this motor, just be aware that you are going to need very high octane fuel.
sorry I said honda first....... i is sorry.Logan76 wrote:hell im soon to be running 10.4:1 CR with boost, but i wont gay this thread up with honda garbage.
buttload of boost............ similar power.r34 gtr wrote:Damn Julian, I had no idea my state was so well endowed with E85 fillup points. I might have to go get one of those flexfuel sensors sooner than I thought! I drive past several of those places on my way to and from school/home. Unfortunately there are no stations where I live (either place) just a bunch half way. I would probably only ever get to enjoy it on the interstate.
The tune would cost a lot then I assume, what with having to create two completely different maps and all. Still, sounds like an awesome way to get me a buttload of power.
Logan76 wrote:Any of you guys consider meth/water injection? Help you out alot if your running high compression + boost.
And what about engine response ?ca18detgabby wrote:

Sure, this is on my planLogan76 wrote:Any of you guys consider meth/water injection? Help you out alot if your running high compression + boost.

Sure, this is on my plan

Cams wrote:Just wondering, and don't take my comment wrong because Im not sure if it is a good idea at all, mixing the following items would achieve a responsive engine with 300whp like the OP wants?
- Forged CP pistons with 9.0:1 compression- Mild head work camshaft + adjustable sprockets. Maybe just the DE exhaust camshaft trick. - GT2860RS with .48 AR (listed on ATPTurbo)- and a good tune for 18-20psi
At least this is what I would like to do. But I don't know if it would take me near 300whp, specially without having to change to higher octane fuel.
I think .64 is found on T2 and .63 is found on T3 turbos.Cams wrote:They list 48, 63, 64, 72, 82 and 86 A/R. I thought it was something like the smaller the A/R the earlier it it will spool but will lower the max boost pressure it can flow, and viceversa. Again, thinking on engine responsiveness at low/mid rpms.
Sorry I only understand like 15% of the dynamics behind a Turbo. Something like: No boost -> lag -> boost ->
Btw, why would they list 63 and 64 options?
USDM ca16 and ca18 got 10:1 compression ratio. JDM ca18de'sgot the 9.5:1 ratio, but had better fuel maps.float_6969 wrote:I'm pretty sure it's wrong, but I can't verify it for 100% sure. The problem MAY be that the JDM RWD CA18DE didn't get the same compression as the USDM FWD CA18DE did.
I'd love to see a FSM for a pulsar. That would certainly settle it.
But simply looking at the amount of dome that my piston has, makes me think it's closer to 10:1.
