I've been pondering this because its early and I'm hungry. I've also been cutting back a bit on eating out because heart disease runs in my family, so I'm getting nostalgic. Right now its a tie between Bern's in Tampa and Thai On First in Spokane WA (completely different price categories too). Honorable mention goes to this hole in the wall Mexican place on the 11000 block of Sprague in Spokane WA:
Image
I swear, I could eat there every single day for the rest of my life and be blissfully happy. If only it wasn't 2000 miles away.

Image
I'm also looking forward to eating in Thailand again in May. My flight is booked. [And no, I'm not coming home a woman :lolling: ]

Berns was well above average for steaks but I honestly don't remember much about the taste or texture three years later. It was reasonably priced at $50 a head including multiple courses and the service was outstanding. At the time I remember being really, really pleased, but there's probably a good reason I haven't gone back despite being in Tampa a dozen times since 2007. I'll pay anything for quality, and while the experience was awesome the food was just "very good". I expected a mouthgasm from its top 5 reputation.

The highlight was their desserts.

It also looked like a French whore house inside, which was kind of awesome.

I'd say either a Bison Burger from Teds Montana Grill or Prime Rib from Raffertys, which are both within 20min of my house.

I like too many different foods to pick just one, I'll do some categories:

Steak: Difficult choice but Gibson's steak house - Chicago
Cheezesteak: Pat's 9th & Passyunk South Philly, Yo...Burp.
dessert: Baked alaska - HMS Noordam, Holland America Cruise Line, though my sister-in-law's homemade Boston Creme Pie runs a close second.
Seafood: Obrycki's Crab House Baltimore MD
Fresh Bread - Barbero's Bakery - Trenton NJ (best fresh french/italian bread ever)
Vegetable: Sweet corn picked and immediately cooked (my brother-in-law's farm).
just amazing.
Pizza: NY style, Anthony's IV - Morrisville PA yum.

There are so many things to pick. I love food, especially on the days I can eat whatever I want.

Peanut butter and banana stuffed french toast is great...made it after seeing this on the food channel
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobb ... index.html

There's a couple local restaurants here in town that make great dishes..
Beaureguard's makes these barbecue hot wings that are really good, perfect for football Saturday's
Shae's has a breakfast menu that is off the charts but my favorite is the cranberry orange french toast

Hilton Head is cool. I had some of the best fish and the best seafood platter (ate there twice in a week it was so good) at the Grumpy Grouper.

Im ganna go with anything with hot cheese

Ted's Montana Grill is also in the top 10. Just amazing Bison steaks and burgers

I'm getting ready to go to Marrakesh in DC soon, have my reservations in and everything. It's slated for about $50 a head, with belly dancers and the whole mix, so I hope it's good. I've been in a really odd mood for cuisine lately...

I have no one favorite restaurant or food. I take enjoyment from those small foods that we all eat on a daily routine - scrambled eggs and microwaved bacon for morning nutrition, macaroni/cheese and a whipped yogurt for a quick lunch, or a nutrition-stuffed delmonico steak seasoned to perfection. It's the subtle enjoyment and senseful response to them that I take enjoyment from and what allows them to be ranked among my most desired foods.

Spam at 8,000 feet after 6 miles over 3,000 feet. Cooked on a little aluminum stove with a piece of dave's killer bread and cheese. Was literally a life saver. Nothing like burning 8,000 calories for seasoning.

Are their ribs what you recommend? Wet or dry?

I honestly don't think I could just pick anything and single it out. I love food, and that is one thing I'm really looking forward to while on deployment. I really want to try all kinds of crazy things that I would never really even think about here.

Two dishes that I had last year stand out in my memory. I had the tastiest, most tender roasted duck at Moshulu on the waterfront (on a old ship even) in Philadelphia. The 2nd oddly enough was Penang duck curry with pineapple at a Thai restaurant somewhere in between Exton, PA and Media. It was a birthday dinner and I didn't drive so I can't remember the name of the place. Duck is delicious!

Because San Antonio doesn't have much of a rich white people food culture, you can get the world-class 8 course Chef's tasting for $80. A steal.

Also in SA was Ounce Steakhouse. Not the highest rated steakhouse in Texas, but akaushi ribeye... oh my god. It was like a stick of butter inseminated a cow, and then I feasted on it's medium-rare offspring.

Jim's Cheesesteak from the original location (62nd and Noble Street). Way meatier and a lot more friendlier than the South St. location, plus there's rarely a line.

They only come one way(dry)but they have a pretty wicked sauce you can slather on them if you like.Try their pulled shoulder sandwich or plate and be sure to get plenty their slaw. Now i am hungry.

Really? I may have to go back there again and try something else. I have been there a few times and all I can remember is that I didn't like their crabs that much. Too peppery if I remember correctly, not enough Old Bay in their seasoning.

I had clams and cod on the pier in Seattle. It was sublime. Food is the only good thing to come out of that city.

I'm a big fan of their crab cakes. I had taken a good friend to Johns Hopkins awhile back and realized Fells Point was nearby, so we got some to go (bonus points for having beer at their bar waiting for it). Mmmm Mmmmm Burp.

Sky, I forgot about Mosholu. I haven't been there in a few years. Great restaurant. :bigthumb:
