I went there last year and thought their ribs were garbage. They were like pork jerky stuck to a bone. You want good ribs in Memphis, go to Tom's BBQ & Deli, that place is BOMB.

Best thing I ever ate is definitely the Butter Cake @ Mastro's Steakhouse. A stick of butter goes into each one.

2nd place is the Caldo Siete Mares (Soup of the Seven Seas) at Splash which is down the street from our condo in Baja, Mexico. $12 get's you a full lobster tail, stone crab claws, fish, shrimp, and octopus. Everything was caught that day basically right behind the restaurant. Needless to say it's amazing. You can also get the best damn fish tacos you've ever had for $1.75, shrimp burritos for $2.25, beers on tap for $1 and well margaritas for $2.25. Man I love Baja.

^This.

Most of the time, I enjoy homemade foods better than food in restaurants, doesn't matter if it comes from my kitchen or someone else's.

Other favs:

- Slow cooked pork ribs made by one of my friends back in Tennessee. He used to be a restaurant chef and his secret sauce is beyond amazing.
- My former mother-n-law's homemade biscuits and apple butter. She made the apple butter outside over an open fire in a hand hammered copper kettle that had been passed down through her family for generations. Delicious doesn't even come close.
- My mother's homemade strawberry jam and blackberry cobbler.

My favorite restaurant at the moment is Chipotle. Their shredded pork burrito is to die for.

This just goes to show that to really appreciate Mexican food you need to go to Mexico. Any time you and Greg wanna take a trip to Baja let me know. One of my favorite restaurants down there is called El Nido(The Bird) in Rosarito Beach. The inside looks like a cross between a rainforest and pirate ship. Here's a few pics including the old lady making fresh tortillas.

I ate at a Legal Seafoods in Tyson's Corner and was somewhat disappointed. We had a bucket of mussels that were all about the size of a dime.Everything else was pretty OKAY.

Puerto Rico on the other hand was amazing. We were there last May and was blown away by some of the food. One of the best things I've ever had was the blood sausage and chicharones at El Rancho Original. The fish at Pito's on the other side of the island was off the hook.

Chicken schnitzel which was the size of a dinner plate.
It could literally be a whole chicken, pounded flat with a mallet.

I look forward to trying some of the foods you guys have posted in this thread so far.

Definitely puts things into perspective! Many thanks to your service for our country so we can be free to be auto enthusiasts we are. Image

I like the ribs and baked beens at Houston's on Peachtree in Atlanta. Houston's is a chain that does ribs well consistently. I found a small place in Ridgeland, MS, The Trace Grill, that does a really good job on everything they make, especially the ribs.
Also found a really good Mahi sandwich at Georgia Blue here in Madison, MS.
