Well it doesnt help when people post these threads outside of the gaming forum...plus most gamers got started on the NES or SNES so I'm sure you would get as many responses in the appropriate forum.
I loved F-Zero, it was the second best racing game for the SNES (Mario Kart is first). Super Mario World was the best platformer IMO, but get Super Mario All Stars if you can. It's probably a lot rarer (I dont know though, I got it back in the early '90s) but it contains Mario Bros 1-3 with some "enhanced graphics" and the Wikipedia page tells me that the later ones came with Super Mario World as well. It's kind of like the Orange Box of the SNES games.
It's a hit or miss for most people, but I loved the ActRaiser games. Awesome platformer.
Contra III and Double Dragon V. Thats all I need to say about those.
I hope you like RPGs though. That's what I remember best about the SNES. To me it was the golden age of the RPG. I got Final Fantasy III late in '94 and I've been a big RPG guy since then. Get Breath of Fire I & II, Final Fantasy II & III, Chrono Trigger, EarthBound, Illusion of Gaia, Lufia II, Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore, Super Mario RPG...there are others too, but these are all good.
If you like fighting games, SNES started that ****. The Mortal Kombats, Killer Instinct, Street Fighter, etc.
Some other very good games are Mario Paint, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Earthworm Jim, the Kirby games, and any of the Mega Man games.
I wouldnt have been able to remember half of these games if it wasnt for Wikipedia. Great site with a great name. wikiwikiwikiwiki
