Well, I just like having the arrows showing me what direction(s) the signal(s) are coming from. Instant onKA band lights up the Valentine1 quickly. The cops love to shoot at a vehicle quickly so you see a quick flash(pulse) on the detector showing which direction. You can start slowing up and by then, the cop will have pulsed several more vehicles thus exposing his position/ direction . AS for the "elite" car owners having passport 8500...that does not impress me. My brother in law drives a 2004 Z350 and I have a 2003 Infiniti I35. Maybe not classy enough cars to impress you, but hey, let the radar detector impress you. I suggest that you order both with a written money back guarantee and put them side by side in your car and let the winner be known. Good luck

What about false signals? My last 3 radar detectors would go off for no apparent reason.

Valentine One ahs three logic modes. In areas that are heavily populated with door openers and some type of alarms, the "x" band and sometimes the "K" band will pick up signals, howver, you can turn down the alart volume so only viable threats are announced to you. You can also push the on/off button to tempoarily mute the sound until a stronger signal is picked up. I really watch the:KA" band in Fla. as that is what is used most heavily. All I can say is, I don't go driving without my V1.
